It doesnt really matter
Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as passion, random, thoughts
Varun was thinking of preparing for a marathon race.. With his busy schedule, marathon was the last thing he wanted.. Neither was his physique so good.. he had to work hard.. He was mocked by his close group of friends.. He just laughed with them.. making fun of himself :-), but he didnt lose his determination.. Inspite of all the parody.. He didnt lose his focus..A journey of thousand miles begins with the first step..He decided that there was no point just talking.. He decided to run.. He made a lot of new friends while running.. He was really excited on meeting them… He realized that he was in much better shape than some of them .. (Imagine.. how bad those people would have been..) But he appreciated their spirits.. He appreciated their enthusiasm.. He suddenly learnt that there is more to his life…He kept on improving himself.. That was seen both in his efforts and in the results.. He inspired so many people to start running.. Some of the folks, who had given up their running.. were seriously considering running again.. Varun carried the spirit.. Varun carried the passion.. He is kindling the fire everywhere he goes..Obviously, life is not always rosy.. Varun has to handle the challenges.. He has to run faster to win.. He has been striving hard.. He has been putting his heart and soul.. He is pushing himself.. But he also understands his other responsibilities and also realizes that those are his top priorities.. Running is just a hobby… And he is leaving no stone unturned to win (with all his constraints..)His efforts have been amazing.. Everyone is waiting for race.. The biggest question that is hanging around is “Will he win the race?”In this highly competitive world, varun is leaving nothing to chance.. But at the same time, he understands his limitations.. He enjoys every small accomplishment with his friends.. Yes, with the same set of close friends, who mocked him.. He knows one thing.. Although these guys mock him so much.. these are the guys who will be really really proud of him.. These are his friends.. who will be extremely happy for him.. whether he wins the race or not..In the whole new *random (ad)venture*, varun has found a new happiness.. He has found a new topic to discuss over his lunch.. He has found a new passion..Whether he wins the race or not, Varun is going to be satisfied with himself.Winning or Losing doesnt matter..Yes! It doesnt really matter..What matters the most is that, Varun is enjoying running, for the journey.. and not for the destination..Let Varun Win!!!!

Bangalore Roads never sleep

“Pom” “Pom” “Keeeeeeeeee” “Keee” - These mini sirens start very early in the morning… So early that chirping of birds is no longer heard.. They start at 5:30 in the morning to drop employees in the manufacturing units before their siren blows. Yes, Bangalore roads wake up very very early… Even before we wake up, the BMTC public transports hit the roads.. helping people commute from one corner of the city to another.. With the city expanding every day, these buses even ply to places which have no roads :-) Lots and lots of people get ready.. They take the roads to reach their office before their “fixed opening time” of 9 AM. These are people in various sectors.. from banks.. to government offices.. to telecom offices.. Some people in service sector also have to reach the office before 9 am. They initiate the traffic jams.. :-)Then come the IT folks with flexible timings.. With their bikes and “Cabs”, they worsen the traffic situation on the road.. Their flexibility and the roads inflexibility lead to traffic jams go to intolerable proportions.. Roads badly need someone to intervene.. With the help of traffic police, things get sorted out.. The roads get cleared by around 11 AM.Just when the roads starts to have a breather.. “Group Lunches” and “Team building activities” are about to start.. Vehicles ply to and fro.. all through the afternoon.. The clock strikes 5:00 PM.. The traffic hits the road again.. From schools and colleges to people working in manufacturing plants, almost everyone who made an early entry.. take turn to get back to their abode.. Till 9 PM, the roads are clogged.. The “fixed time” office guys have no choice, but to “sand witched” in the traffic jam.. The flexible time guys try their best to avoid the traffic.. All in vain.. They just cant escape the dreaded monster of traffic jam till 9PM.. In some places, its even worse.. It goes on till 10 PM..At last.. things calm down.. The traffic gradually comes back to normal proportion.. Just when you think, the bangalore roads are going to sleep.. The white “Tata Safaris” of the call centres and BPOs hit the road.. :-) Creating a mini traffic peak at 11 PM..Even after that there are trucks and other heavy vehicles which ply on these roads all through the night.. “Arise, Awake and Stop Not till the goal is reached” was a great saying by Swami Vivekananda. Probably, the bangalore road took it in the literal sense. :-)

Its finally Over!!
Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as exam, random, thoughts
Rahul is having his final semester exam tomorrow. He rushes to his room after a long lunch time chat with his friends. Its 1:30pm. He is very relieved. He has a lot of time to study. He sets his alarm to 2:30pm and takes a small nap. “Tring” “Tring” - The alarm rings. He snoozes it and continues to sleep. He wakes up at 3:30pm finally and looks at the watch. “What the $@&9*, its 3:30″ he curses himself. Its time to study. He hasnt touched the book. There is tension in the air. He searches for the book in his messy shelf, full of news paper and cigarette packets. Finally he got the book. How could he miss the book, that can literally be used as a “Pillow!” :-) Its really big! He is all set! He turns the hard bound cover and a few pages of preface to see whats there in the syllabus. There are 18 chapters. Hmm… Thats a lot to study.. He cursed himself for oversleeping. He opens the first chapter. Still his mind is cursing him about oversleeping.. He is not able to concentrate.. Finally, rahul tells himself not to panic.. He reads the first paragraph of the book.. A “De ja Vu” feeling sets in.. He felt he has heard that somewhr.. :-) His mind flutters to the first of the only few classes which he had attended.. He remembered how he was booing the junior teacher who was teaching this course.. He was dreaming.. He was only thinking about all the fun he had in the class…”Beep Beep!” - An sms… It breaks his day dream.. He looks at the watch.. Its already 4 pm.. He hasnt read a paragraph for half an hour.. Panic sets in.. He feels that he cant study alone.. He rushes to Madhu, the geek of the class.. He desperately needs his help to pass in the subject.. He realized that he cant study from the big text book.. He took Madhus notes and rushed to the xerox shop.. There was a long queue and the xerox prices had inflated .. thanks to exams.. :-)He somehow managed to take a xerox and rushed back to hostel. He is pedalling his cycle very fast.. All along.. he just keeps telling himself.. that he has made big mistake of not studying before.. “I should have studied earlier..” He cribs to himself.. He says the same to Madhu as well… Madhu calms him down.. He marks some of the important questions which can be eliminated.. :-) Rahul sets out to study the subject… As and when, he got doubts, he asked madhu to explain him.. Madhu was ofcourse kind enough to do that.. The time keeps ticking.. Minutes after minutes.. hour after hour.. “Time for dinner rahul..” says Madhu.. “Ok..” says rahul.. “What are you revising now.. :-)” winked Madhu.. Rahul almost had tears in his eyes.. when he said, he just completed one unit.. Madhu cheered him up.. They had their quickest dinner in their college life.. It got over in 15 minutes.. Rahul always had some thing or the other to discuss over dinner.. But today, he was very very silent.. He was tensed.. He was really really anxious.. He starts studying again… He felt very sleepy.. at only 11pm.. :-) He usually sleeps at 3pm.. :-) He just didnt like what he was doing.. But he had to.. He had to study.. He had to pass.. He didnt have great internals either.. He takes a small “Tea” break.. and comes back and slogs whole night.. yes.. He does a night out! Madhu wakes up at 7am in the morning.. Rahul was still studying.. He is about to finish 4 units.. He looked very relieved.. Madhu in the mean time.. started revising the subjects.. The clock keeps ticking.. Whom does the time wait for anyways! :-)Rahul rushes to the exam hall.. with the xerox in his hand.. The teacher has already distributed the answer papers.. He still hasnt entered the hall.. He is doing last minute revisions.. Finally teachers gives the question paper.. Rahul barges into the hall throwing the xerox copy.. 1 hour passes..2nd hour passess..Rahul is feeling very tired.. But he manages to hold his nerve.. “Time Up!” says the teacher.. She grabs the answer sheet!! and walks away.. Rahul comes out of the hall… He walks very slowly.. He had an uneasy thought running his mind.. He was happy that he was able to clear the paper.. He was sad that he could have done better.. He slogged the whole night.. He felt he could have done much much better had he studied more.. He didnt knw whether to celebrate.. or to feel bad.. He places a cigar in his mouth.. contemplating.. He is surrounded by so many ppl.. who were discussing the paper..He released a puff of smoke.. and said to himself.. “Its finally over!” You will find these in my blog: Coffee, Fun, Carnatic Music, Mridangam, Google, Random thoughts, Business ideas, Start ups, Videos, Blogposts, Cricket, India, Philosophy, Real life Experience.. Howzatt!
Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as cricket, how is that, howzatt, random, talent loss, thoughts
Ronald and his dad drove to the cricket ground in a Tata Safari. He carried his heavy cricket kit bag. His dad carried six stumps. Ronald was cribing all along from the gate to the middle of the ground, where his father was fixing the stumps. His friend rohit, hadnt come for practise. That was the issue. Rohit was supposed to bowl and his father was supposed to keep. After wearing gloves, pads, helmets and all the protective gears, He was all set to bat. Ronald’s dad was bowling offspin. His action looked like Arjun Ranatunga bowling.. Or probably he looked like Arjuna Ranatunga :-) Ronald plays a brilliant forward defence. It looked like Rahul Dravid was batting. “Great Defence, Ronny” - cheered his dad. Dad carries the ball and more importantly he carries himself to the start of the run up.He bowls a ball directed towards the leg stump, which Ronny paddle sweeps. The ball goes past the wicket keeper gloves which was lying there as there was no one to keep. It was running fast towards the shops near the edge of the ground. “Ball Up!! Ball Up!!” shouts Ronny to the boy standing there… The boy standing there was Shivu.. He picked up the ball.. This was the first time he held a leather ball in his hand.. He wiped the ball on his dirty pant… He had seen Brett Lee doing it on TV.. And finally he threw the ball to them..He came running towards the middle.. “Can I also join Uncle?”Ronny’s father.. already panting for breath heavily.. told ok.. Shivu picked up the wicket keeper gloves.. and tried wearing it.. “Go and bowl” said ronnys father, who snatched the gloves from him.. Shivu took a long run up like how Shoaib Akthar does.. He runs hard and bowls the ball.. The ball slips from his hand.. it was a wide ball… Ronny started laughing.. “It not enough to run like Shoaib Akthar, you should bowl like him..” Shivu runs hard again.. This time he bowls much better.. Ronny plays a square drive.. Didnt connect it too well.. Shivu runs barefoot and dives to field the ball.. “Nice Job Mate!” shouts Ronny’s dad.. Shivu was extremely happy on hearing such motivational words.. He had extra energy to bowl all though he hurt himself diving for the ball.. He runs faster.. He can feel the breeze “hitting” his face as he runs to bowl.. The ball was bang on target, with a hint of swing.. It beats ronny who was trying for a square drive again.. He runs fast to the start of his run up.. He runs even faster to bowl.. He hits the deck hard.. Ronny was struck on his pads.. “How is thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!” Shivu appeals to the umpire.. who wasnt present.. He jumps for 10 secs.. Ronny and his dad were surprised.. There was nobody there.. What the hell was he doing.. In the mean time.. Ronny’s dad gives ronny some tips to play straight.. Shivu was in his own world.. He felt his shabby coffee stained t shirt and an equally shabby, torn pants was his Indian Blue Uniform”He felt he was wearing an addidas shoes.. “Shivvu..” “Shivvu” “Shivvvu..” he can hear the whole world chanting his name on the morning when there was pin drop silence in the ground..”Shivendra is walking back to his run up..”"He has been the best Indian bowler on this tour down under..”"He has already beaten ricky ponting twice in this over..” These commentaries of “Ravi Shaastri” were echoing in his headHe is running hard.. He is bending his back.. He wants to extract the last juice on the wicket.. He bowls a blinder of a delivery.. Ronny, who won the man of the series fox maximum number of runs in under 19 tournament, was completely beaten.. Clean Bowled!! Can you imagine this!! Middle stump on the floor.. It was the sight of the day.. A sight which every fast bowler would like to see..Ronny was dumb struck.. He couldnt believe his eyes.. He had never faced such a deadly bowler”My chance to bat” “Please, Please, my chance to bat!” pleads shivu to ronny.. Ronny was removing his gloves in wonder.. Shivu was extremely happy.. He is going to wear the gloves and pads… which only “Big Players” wear.. He was already in a dream world as he was holding a bat with a leather grip.. This bat was so different from his bat, which is carved from a wodden plank..”Hey Shivu, what are you doing there? #@@@*^^#@?” shouts a man.. He gives back the bat to ronny and runs towards the shop.. “Sorry Master! Sorry!” he replies to the man who was not willing to listen to shivu..He beats him with a stick and pushes him down.. He also throws 20 tumblers on him and asks him wash it..”What are you doing there you idiot, who will wash the coffee cups? Your father will come or what?” He shouts..Shivu starts scrubbing the tumbler.. But his mind was only thinking about the deadly ball which got ronny out..His mind was only thinking about the pads and gloves which he will never get to wear again. His mind was only thinking about the way he shouted “Howzzaaaaaatt!!!”, “How is that…. ?”Whenever India loses badly, we always tell.. “In a country of 1 billion population, we cant even find 11 players who can play well… Where have our talented cricketers gone?”Next time you think like that, Think again!! Your answer is here. If you are stumped, give your comment!

Auto driver’s happiness
Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as auto driver, random, thoughts
What comes to your mind when you think of an auto driver. A lazy guy dressed in kaakhi brown. He has no respect for age or money! Always asking for 20 rupees extra. Always having a sad look on his face!Yes! You got it right! Most of the auto drivers are like this only. But have you ever seen an auto guy who takes school kids to and fro daily? In fact I have traveled in one such auto when I went to school. He safely transports the innocent kids between home and school! He always has a smile on his face when he picks up the kid! And if a child offers toffees for his birthday, Mr. Auto driver will be super happy. He will be so proud, as though he was given Padma Vibhushan. And why shouldnt he be happy… For the kids, he is more than “Just another Auto Driver”. He is their king. He drives their chariot. The kids tell him about the fight they had, the new friend they found, the marks the got etc. He is “the man” for them. He is the first to receive the news from the kids. He is so proud about their marks! He is so proud, that he boasts about it. He thinks it is his marks and feels extremely happy about it! :-)It is the auto driver, who teaches them to share. To share the seat with 10 other kids in a jam packed “Chariot!”He is the guy, to whom the kids show their new colour pencils and crayons. He is also the judge who solves all their fights!Indeed, he is more than an auto driver!! I am sure he wont be earning a lot! Probably he is suffering from shortage of money! But when he wakes up, he will wake up thinking about the bright and shiningfaces of the his innocent looking kids. He wakes up, thinking about his own “band!”. He wakes up in the morning excited about his work! Do you wake up in the morning excited about your work?==============================================================Btb, this is my 200th post on Coffee with Sundar! You will find these in my blog: Coffee, Fun, Carnatic Music, Mridangam, Google, Random thoughts, Business ideas, Start ups, Videos, Blogposts, Cricket, India, Philosophy, Real life Experience.. Depart

Vandana was standing, watching her parents and grand parents leave her alone in hostel. She felt so bad that she cried.. Why did she feel so bad when she knew that she was going to meet them over the weekend? What made her ask in her mind “please stay with me for one more day!”The situation is not going to change if it was a day later.Things move on.. She would have fought a hundred times with her boyfriend… But what made her heart sink when she told him a “Good Bye!” What made her ask in her mind.. “Please spend the evening with me.”An evening wouldnt make it any better. She just wonders “Why does it happen to me!”Things move on.. She got a call from home that her grand mother expired!!She rushes back home.. She cried and cried! What made her ask god.. “Please make her stay with me for one more year!”She wouldnt have cried any less a year later!Infact, She will miss her even more. She again wonders “why should this happen only to me!”Things move on.. Its almost time to pass out.. She was always bored of lectures. What made her come out of “Last Lecture” with a heavy heart?? What made her ask in her mind.. “Please take one more class…”When she walked out of the gates of her legendary college, what made her feel “Please stay here for one more day!”Telling bye is such a common thing in life.. But what made her feel bad when she told her last “Bye folks” in the railway station.. Why was she not able to accept the end?”Why should this happen to me”, cringes her heart!Asking for more time, Without accepting the fact, that, in life, its all just a part! But move on says her mind, accepting to depart!

The First Smoke
Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as random, smoke, thoughts
Trinadh was walking back from his first year class room. He encountered 3 seniors on his way. Those guys asked him for his intro. While he was uttering his intro, they took to a second year hostel room. Seniors had a feast of him. They asked him embarassing questions and also to do embarassing things. He had to do them without refuting it. Somewhr, senior 1 asked him to scold either senior 2 or senior 3. Its his choice to choose any of them, but he has to. After a lot of force, he chooses senior 2 as he appeared to be thinner and less powerful than senior 3. After a lot of reluctance, he utters “$%@*&^%$”. There was silence in the room. “Rap!” “Rap!” “Rap!” “Rap!” He got 4 tight slaps from senior 2. Trinadh never expected this. Now the “narada” senior asks him again, you want to scold senior 2 or senior 3. He has to choose of them. He refutes. They force him and force him. Finally he chooses senior 3. But this time, he knows what will be the consequence. Same story repeats. This time, more slaps and even tighter. Trinadh was full of tears. He had no energy to even stand. He is standing with the support of senior 1 who made the offer. “Narada” senior asks again, senior 2 or senior 3 or a smoke. Wait a minute. What the hell on earth was that. “A smoke”?? “No way” thinks trinadh. But he is not a position to take any more slaps either. He begs his seniors to let him free. Obviously they dont. His mind flies. He thinks of the day he got “Rank 4 in the entrance exam!”. He wondered if he did the right thing by getting rank 4. “My Son is going to be the next bill gates!”. His father uttered these words over phone when trinadh picked up Computer Science Engineering at this college. All these made him feel worse. “Rap!” One more slap, this time from his dear friend senior 1. “What are you thinking?” Trinadh is trying to stand up. “senior 2, senior 3 or smoke?”He has no energy to answer. The seniors keep a cigar in his mouth. You can see the cigar trembling. He accepts without resistance. They search for matches. They dont have one. Senior 2 and senior 3 go out for matches. As the cigar in his mouth trembles, his mind continues to flutter. “My son is going to study in hostel and get first rank there!”. His mother had told this all her friends. He is feeling guilty. His Uncle called him and wished him all the best when he left to hostel. He told him - “This college will make stones into GEMS”. He was feeling angry. Lots of emotions come to his mind. He is feeling guilty. He is unable to bear one more slap. He is forced to pick up the smoke. He inhales the air. His mind is fluttering. He thinks “how can he be the role model for his brother”.. He coughs and coughs. He coughs aloud. The senior goes and closes the door. They teach him how to inhale. Suddenly the appear more friendly. Finally, trinadh takes a puff and releases the smoke in the air. Other seniors also do the same.. There is SMOKE all over the place. There was so much smoke that no one noticed the tears in his eyes. No one noticed his guilty consciousness.. No one noticed his emotions associated with his FIRST SMOKE.=======================================================================Btb, I dont smoke. It is just my imagination.
