Why Orkut is boring these days?

Disclaimer: These are the thoughts of RRRR - Remotely Random Roadside Rougler. Its 12:30 in the night and I dont knw what I am going to type! These are not the views of Google or Orkut :-)For some reason, I am finding that Orkut is boring these days. I am trying to list the reason here.* These days, I am able to reply back to scraps from my scrapbook itself. That never used to be the case before. I used to go to the person’s scrapbook. Reply back. And more importantly, read all his other scraps. This whole entertaining experience is removed. I am on orkut to do time pass. If I have to just reply back, I might as well do it over email.* My scrap activity is around is 4 scraps in 2 weeks. That too it is bursty. I send all those four scraps on one day. I am in no mood to start new conversation over orkut. Applying prisoners dilemma, my friends are also undergoing the same situation. So, the “communication with friend” factor is lost. Its nolonger so exciting. And this effect is catching up with my friends, their friends, their friends etc.. I am quite sure, 99.5% of the users will be there in 7 day inactive users.* The other important work that I used to do on orkut, other than reading scrapbooks, is to look at photos of girls and pass time. But now with the new feature, that important activity is also gone! Surprisingly, a lot of girls are active in using this feature.* Friend requests from unknown people has started increasing. It is annoying to get random requests. If by chance you accept, you are doing a grave crime! Not for any security reasons. But because, he will update “Brought new jeans” in his profile and you will be notified in your updates. And his name will be glaringly shown in your gtalk chat list. The guy to whom you talk usually is lost somewhr in the list.* Extremely Personalized Happy New Years!, Happy Republic day! etc. Please, neither you nor I celebrate republic day or new year! But this sucky scrap keeps popping up. If it is only from one guy, it is alright. Suddenly all my 250 friends become very patriotic. But it gives happiness to atleast one person. The Orkut PM, for seeing increase in scrap traffic.* If I scrap once in 2 weeks, I go to my communities once in 2 months. It is just a place to show your other interests. It is like my showcase with communities as dolls. But one exception, all these dolls keep rearranging themselves whenever the feel like and however they want! It will be a great feature to remove users who dont post in a community for more than a month! But wait a minute. That will leave 95% of the communities with 0 users. And the other 5% will have 2 users. They might as well scrap each other.* Orkut tried to do a cool thing by allowing indic scraps. But this time firefox played the spoil sport. The font rendering is so sucky, that I feel like reading some ancient kannada poem in hampi ruins when someone scraps me in kannada.* If you think all that I am talking is crap, you belong to the elite 1% premium users of orkuk, aka, Geek community who dont have social life outside, so you use orkut to be social. Great all the best!With orkut launching open social (not insider information :-) hehehaaaahah), one geek will code for a VIRTUAL WALK. And you will be walking with a girl (fake profile) using the virtual walk, hike on mountain that looks like xp wallpaper, but get that fake girl an e-icecream, but paying real money!! Enjoy!There is one use of orkut!You can introduce my blog to 5 new people! :-)After that, go and socialize in the REAL SOCIAL NETWORK
