First of all, thanks to TechBuzz and GoogleReader.. cuz they told me about this awesome service called JAXTR

I had ignored a lot of emails about jaxtr that i had received before. but i regret for it now…

jaxtr rocks for sure ! Asking why? Well one reason is that it allows you to send unlimited number of sms to any mobile from a group of countries (39 at present). Thankfully, India is on the list too

So, you may ask what makes jaxtr different from other similar sites like it… The thing is, you can only feel the difference when you sign into jaxtr. the whole experience is so rich and fast !

jaxtr’s plus points :

1. you don’t need to verify you email to send free sms
2. its not compulsory to give/verify your phone number
3. u get a phone call from jaxtr asking you to input a verification code when you try to update you profile with a mobile number
4. you can even call your friends thru jaxtr and literally speak to each other !

jaxtr’s negatives :

1. u get to send only 65 characters per sms (but u can always extend ur msg to the next sms)
2. u can call friends @ 6 jax/min (jax being a sort of currency of jaxtr)
3. u get only 100 jax/month for free

i m sure many of you nittians might know about it and would have even subscribed to its popular freeservices like NEWS, CRICKET UPDATES, WORD, TRAVEL and more

But there are also other features like sending any of your feeds as SMS and bookmarking sites, etc. mytoday will send the feed only upto some 50-60 characters i.e. if u add nittians.com as a feed, all the posts will be trimmed and only the starting line will be shown with a link which can be followed to read the whole article on the net or on gprs

What bothered me to write this post was that i had subscribed nittians as feed and offlate there had been so much activity on nittians that i have been getting about 15 msgs from mytoday on an average in my inbox

so, i discontinued the feed

Even though the feed feature trims the articles it can be used to subsribe to feeds like GRE word of the day and stuff..

PS: even if u dont hav a gf to whom u can msg from time to time… i believe subscribing to all mytoday services will keep you busy to the extent that u can show off to ur frnds that even u are busy msging all day

I was thinking of writing about the Blockbuster Kollywood Movie of 2007- “Yaaruku Yaar Stepnee”..

Now that, Lavanya (whom i know only thru nittians) had already written a entry.. i would like to give some more intricate details about the hero of the movie and also the movie as a whole…

Sam Anderson aka Andy (btw.. he is a local guy and not the hollywood ‘Anderson’ !)  is an inspiration to all the people who want to do a lead role in a movie. Andy has done a profound movie on all the implications of stepnee in “Yaaruku Yaar Stepnee”. For those who don’t know, “Stepnee” is nothing but a spare tyre for an automobile. It may mean something else also, but thats left out to you to infer after watching the movie.

His dance steps are difficult to such an extent that even Michael Jackson can’t immitate it. ( Don’t agree with me?? then jus take a shot at this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0iXYpHXWIA )

Do you feel that need for a partner to whom you can share things with?? then… follow Andy’s steps. Just help a girl in distress with an extra tyre(stepnee). Tada.. the next instant you have a gf!!

You should listen to Andy recite the ’stepnee’ routine in the climax of the movie. You will either come out appreciating the linguistic master piece that the writer has penned down probably after couple of shots of vodka , or you would be to believe that half of AamJunta has become his ‘Stepnee’.

oh yeah let me get on wid the main stuff this post is for - Delta treat number #2

The 4th yr delta guys had arranged a treat for us in “Sree …something” - A garden restaurant. It was good as it came as a complete surprise after ct’s. Hats off to my seniors. Though the “Pussy fruit” thing (ordered by eskay) wasn’t so good, surya drank it bottoms up! And he won a Rs.50 bet with suren (suren was looking pavam.. lolz.. serves him rite for keeping a bet like that) Had gr8 fun with suren, ankit, sahil and a few others too. The treat had a “About Me” session which was a sort of sentimental raggin given by 4th yrs. Got some juice about some of the crushes and proposals that seniors had in when they wer in 1st, 2nd and 3rd yr. On a whole, it was a jolly good treat. Delta Rocks!!!

Ok then.. i m off to mess now to have breakfast and i promise i ll dedicate a post to my second CT’s of 4th sem sooner or later

Well.. another blog post.. Pragyan’08 has arrived. Even though the first Guest lecture was a big suggit.. i feel it ll be fun this time, especially in junkyard wars atleast. i m remembered of my childhood dreams and passions.. those good old times when i used to watch junkyard wars on discovery channel and used to think of making something from junk… hmmm.. this time i get to witness it practically.. but its just a basic event when compared to the high funda program shown on tv and all.. but even then.. its something different to blog about

Heard some weird (rather stupid) rule that nittians should only spend Rs.500 on food stalls from their mess bills this Pragyan… How worse can get? Well here i am… sitting in CAD lab.. Came here to do some ldap config work.. did a few lines.. and now i m blogging.. i had thought of for about a fortnight now. Have a f***ing trical lab 2moro afternoon… Well let it go to hell! i am least bothered… But i hav a redo and also bunked one lab. Well above all that.. jus recovered from a gr8 loss i had.. lost my grandpa on the 16th of jan08. He had been very dear to me.. taught me a lot of things.. but everyone has to leave this world one day or another… had to bunk that lab to attend the last rituals of my late grandpa :’-(

Hmmm… noticeably the campus has become busy allthemore.. with ruby cup.. pragyan and all the respective department symposiums… oh yeah.. forgot about the most ultimate delta proxy.. it rocks !!

Alas i have reached my insti (NITT) after a month long winter break. Man! coll is cool!

and what stumped me most is the changes in trichy… the tiruchchirapalli railway station has been renovated and now looks awesome (especially at night time) with the water fountain and the artificial palm which is decorated by fancy lighting… hmm.. trichy is not a bad place after all.. its improving slowly. And what more? i just arrived at trichy after a 6 hour long journey.. Miss.128 was waiting for me a CBS.. Wow.. she was a beauty! She had had a makeover since i had seen her a month ago. She startled me. She gave me a lift to my insti, A peaceful 45-min journey…. The old seats which had very less legspace had been replaced by new single seater seats… even the lighting had been improved. i reached diamond at about 10.30pm. it was like a haunted mansion or something… it gave me the creeps. But, i managed to cross its spooky corridor with the help of some illumination from my best friend (my nokia 6300).. i stood in front of my room (Diamond#2) waiting for something to happen! how stupid? then i saw some parcel tucked into the door latch..i wondered.. what could it be? Aah! it was UbuntU 7.10 (gutsy gibbon) CD that i had ordered before 3 weeks… i felt happy! Somehow managed to set my bed right… was jus about to sleep when the door just flew open… i was frightened.. who could it be at this time of the night? my imaginations ran wild! but it was only my roomie

atlast i could sleep without any fear!
