A widow should be long suffering until death, self-restrained and chaste.
A virtuous wife who remains chaste when her husband has died goes to heaven.
A woman who is unfaithful to her husband is reborn in the womb of a jackal.
The Laws of Manu
Chapter 5 verse 156-161
Dharamshastras ( Sacred Hindu texts )
Was seeing a movie called “Water” and this is the starting text shown .. This is actually the sacred text seen in hinduism’s holy scriptures .. The movie is set in 1938 at Rawalpur .. In those days, widow’s were treated inhumanely .. Child marriage was rampant throughout the lands .. Female children even in the age of 10 were widow’s even before they knew what marriage was and what was it all about .. According to the Hindu scriptures, widow’s should live a life of self-denial and suffering .. So these young widowed children were put in ashrams and they lived a life of hardship, suffering and forced prostitution .. It melts the heart to see the images of the social structure existant in India ..
The movie revolves around three people .. Two widows and one Brahmin youth ( Narayan) who is a follower of Gandhiji .. One of the widow is a girl of around 20 (Kalyani) and the other a very young girl of 10 (Chuyia) .. Kalyani and Narayan fall in love with each other but widow remarriage was considered a sin .. Kalyani was forced into prostitution at the widow ashram .. She later comes to know that Narayan’s father is one of her despiseful clients .. Knowing this, Narayan loses all his respect for his family and prepares to leave his family and to join Gandhi in the freedom struggle .. Shocked by this revelation, Kalyani commits suicide breaking Narayan’s heart .. After Kalyani’s death, the little girl Chuyia is also forced into prostitution .. Tears would roll down anyone’s heart on knowing that these inhumanities were rendered out to innocent children in India .. One of the older widows saves Chuyia and hands her over to Narayan who raises her with love and hope in the new and free India ..
This movie should be seen by every Indian to know what the religious texts mean .. But unfortunately, I heard that this movie was not released in India .. I am not sure of this fact .. I am sure there would have been heavy opposition to the release because it demeans brahmins .. In those days, brahmins considered themselves so high, that in one of the dialogues in the movie, Narayan’s father says ” A brahmin has the right to sleep with any woman. A woman should consider herself blessed to have slept with a brahmin ” ..
If this is Hinduism, then I am deeply ashamed to be born a Hindu .. If this is what the Hindu scripts teach and preach, then it is not even a religion or a way of life .. Hinduism should be shunned .. All the religious texts should be burned .. No religion can force suffering on any human being by virtue of birth, caste or sex .. Men and Women are equally created and if a religion fails to acknowledge that, then it’s time we shun it .. If Hindu god’s preach this , then I think that any human with a heart is more respectable and good than any God .. Being an athiest, I don’t believe in the existance of God .. Because if the so-called all-powerful and all-GOOD god exists, then he wouldn’t have let Hinduism evolve in the first place .. If the god does exist then, he must be pure-evil enjoying in the suffering of innocent lives .. A religion which does not patronise love is nothing but evil ..
I recommend every Indian .. or rather every human to watch this movie .. and the sad thing is is that there are over 34 million widows in India according to the 2001 census. Many continue to live in conditions of social, economic and cultural deprivation as prescribed 2000 years ago by the so-called Sacred Texts of Manu ..
We the educated Indians should protest against such practices .. We should not turn a blind eye to these .. If we see any of these inhumane acts, we are bound by our humanity to do our part .. atleast lodge a complaint with the police, because atleast now in India the law supercedes any religious texts and thanks to great people like Raja Ram Mohan roy and Mahatma Gandhiji, there is still life and hope for many innocent children ..
I sometimes even feel so ashamed to live in this Indian soil .. It is so sinned .. It has been the birth place of such demons and inhumane creatures .. I wish to purify this land as much as possible by spreading the message and awareness of the social evils still present ..

First of all, Why am i in Singapore ? I have taken up a project work in NUS during winter for a month under Dr.Xu Jianxin of Electrical & Computer Engg. The project work is on a Fujitsu Humanoid robot HOAP-1. Well, that’s why i primarily came to singapore ..
I reached here on Monday, Dec 3rd morning .. I always like to experience a city by the local transport rather than taking a taxi and going directly to where I stay .. The first impression .. ” The airport is HUGE ” .. It is really big with sky-trains running between terminals .. !!! .. I took the MRT from the airport to a place called ‘Paya Lebar’ from where I had to walk to the dorm I had made a reservation with .. The walk was 15 mins (with luggage and all) .. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw Singapore is that the place is really really clean .. The only garbage I could see on the roads are dry leaves .. Other than that, not even one single litter .. !! .. I took rest in the dorm, slept for sometime then took a taxi to go to NUS .. reached there .. talked with the lab technician .. He gave me a brief idea of what i was gonna work on ..
By evening, I left and met up with the other guys from NIT who are also in Singapore (those guys are doing project in NTU) .. Went just window shopping in some mall near a place called ‘Boon Lay’ .. I reached the dorm back at night and slept like a log ..
Second day I had planned to meet a couple of friends who are living in Singapore .. I knew them when I was taking a computer course with them in India .. Those guys promised they’ll show me around the place .. We were to meet up at a place called ‘Bugis’ .. I reached Bugis some half hour earlier .. Since I was alone and I was vetti, I just walked into one small shop at the Bugis station .. After entering, I realised it was not one ’small’ shop but one ‘huge’ shop .. Ok fine let it be huge .. big deal .. So i walk into this shop (which was full of fashion accessories) .. I see a board called ‘exit’ and I come out .. but wait it was not the way through which I came in .. I was now standing in a huge shopping complex buzzing with people and all active and there was even one musical fountain in the middle of the place .. The place was really really nice .. So i kept walking .. There were lots of stores and I realised that the S’porean people are CRAZY abotu fashion accessories .. lol .. I took a escalator to another floor and here were full of food outlets till my eyes could reach .. This place kept on going and going when i realized I was lost .. I forgot how to go back to the MRT station .. The friends of mine finally arrived and they guided me back .. Singapore is a shopping hub .. From what my friends said, I have just began to experience Singapore .. Then we went to a electronics shopping plaza called SimLim square .. It was like ‘ritchie street’ in Chennai expanded to four floors and full a/c .. lolz .. I enquired some prices and they were competitive and cheap .. ( This is the place to buy electronic good it seems ) ..
After our trip to SimLim square, we went to a place called ‘Little India’ which was practically Little India .. seriously, it just looked like any place in Chennai .. The place was littered, shops in the platforms .. The only place in singapore where u can see litter !!! .. Damn .. Why do we have to go to a foreign place and spoil our name !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .. anyways we ate in a indian restaurant then went to a pool table .. Played some pool till late at night then took train back to dorm .. Slept like a log again ..
All in all, the first two days in Singpore i felt I was welcomed and the place has a warm feel to it .. The people are friendly .. no security irratitiveness (unlike in Delhi where you cannot even take pics of the MRT station) .. just the right amount of crowd in trains and the place is a treat to the eyes .. hehe .. ;) .. Mostly full of Chinese and the remaining part is Indians ( mostlyl Tamil) .. it was nice to hear announcements being made everywhere in tamil ..
Singapore simply Rocks for Backpackers and tourist .. Am yet to go to the tourist attractions .. lolz .. I am enjoying my stay here and from what my friends said, too long a stay here will get boring and I am staying just the right amount of time to actually enjoy the essense of Singapore without getting bored .. !! .. :)

My friend asked me how to add streaming content in blogs like the one I have been doing for my translated songs .. Ok I’ll just put a small How-to on that
Step 1 : Upload your file online. I suggest you use www.fileden.com. In that site, you can upload files and then have a direct link to them. Other file uploading websites do not give direct link. So make sure you upload the file on a site where they give direct link
Step 2 : In blogger, go to “Edit HTML” and add this part
