Auto driver’s happiness

Posted by Sundar Rajan G S as auto driver, random, thoughts

What comes to your mind when you think of an auto driver. A lazy guy dressed in kaakhi brown. He has no respect for age or money! Always asking for 20 rupees extra. Always having a sad look on his face!Yes! You got it right! Most of the auto drivers are like this only. But have you ever seen an auto guy who takes school kids to and fro daily? In fact I have traveled in one such auto when I went to school. He safely transports the innocent kids between home and school! He always has a smile on his face when he picks up the kid! And if a child offers toffees for his birthday, Mr. Auto driver will be super happy. He will be so proud, as though he was given Padma Vibhushan. And why shouldnt he be happy… For the kids, he is more than “Just another Auto Driver”. He is their king. He drives their chariot. The kids tell him about the fight they had, the new friend they found, the marks the got etc. He is “the man” for them. He is the first to receive the news from the kids. He is so proud about their marks! He is so proud, that he boasts about it. He thinks it is his marks and feels extremely happy about it! :-)It is the auto driver, who teaches them to share. To share the seat with 10 other kids in a jam packed “Chariot!”He is the guy, to whom the kids show their new colour pencils and crayons. He is also the judge who solves all their fights!Indeed, he is more than an auto driver!! I am sure he wont be earning a lot! Probably he is suffering from shortage of money! But when he wakes up, he will wake up thinking about the bright and shiningfaces of the his innocent looking kids. He wakes up, thinking about his own “band!”. He wakes up in the morning excited about his work! Do you wake up in the morning excited about your work?==============================================================Btb, this is my 200th post on Coffee with Sundar! You will find these in my blog: Coffee, Fun, Carnatic Music, Mridangam, Google, Random thoughts, Business ideas, Start ups, Videos, Blogposts, Cricket, India, Philosophy, Real life Experience.. Hi Guys,Today I have a very very special guest on my blog. Its an honour to have Gautham Thambidorai on my blog! I dont have to give any explanation or introduction to Gautham. Gautham is one of the leading engineers at Google. Just do a google search on his name and see the results. Click here for the results :-)But today, we wont be talking about his accomplishments at google! Thats too long to post :-) Instead, we will focus on his hobbies and other interests.Welcome Gautham Thambidorai!!=======================================================================Coffee With Gautham Thambidorai!Me: Sundar Rajan G SGT: Gautham Thambidorai!Me: Hi Gautham. Welcome to Coffee With Sundar! You recently did sky diving. How was it? Share it with our readers.GT: It was awesome!… Definitely worth the thrill. The adrenaline level reaches its highest point just as your about to jump of the plane. Its all downhill from there! I was actually skeptical about doing it because I tend to get motion sickness on the thrill rides but then Manju(my wife) was definitely doing it and hence I couldnt wuss out :-)Me: What are your other interests? Are they all fitness related activities?GT: Squash, Swimming, Running. I’m crazy about Seinfeld. I also tend to like to read a lot of autobiographies, books on social issues, philosophy etc. No fiction for me.Me: When did you start with these activities?GT: I started playing squash when I came for grad school. I learnt swimming when Iwas pretty young and so that was easy.Me: How do you manage your time with your work?GT: I dont really do anything special :-)Me: What is your advise for folks who want to pick up these fitness related activities as their hobby?GT: After a while you get so used to it that your body automatically pushes you everyday and starts complaining if you dont do it… pretty much like sleeping! So, Just start it! :-) It will take care of itself!Me: Finally something work related. What is your advise for young and budding software engineers. GT: Dont make me feel old my asking such questions :-)Me: Ha ha!! Gautham shied away from the last question! :-) But let me tell you, he is too good and we should all learn from him.It was a great pleasure having Gautham Thambidorai on my blog. Having a person of such calibre, raises the standard of my blog as well!! :-)Hope you all had a good time! As I said earlier, at Coffee With Sundar I intend to bring people from different walks of life, have a chat and share the transcript for you to read, learn and enjoy! For earlier episodes of Coffee with Experts, Check out!Coffee With Harsha! - A Carnatic SingerCoffee With Prem! - A true Underdog!Coffee With Aditya - A Googler and Blogger!Coffee With Mahesh - A CAT Cracker!
