இவ்வாறான தலைப்புகளைத் தாங்கிவராத பத்திரிகைகளைப் பார்ப்பது அரிதாகி வருகிறது. மனிதருள் இருக்கும் விலங்கினைத்(மனிதனும் விலங்குதான் என்ற விவாதத்தை சற்றைக்கு மறந்து)திருப்திசெய்வதே சில செய்தி ஊடகங்களின் பிரதான நோக்கமாக இருக்கிறது. யன்னல் வழியாக அடுத்த வீட்டிற்குள் எட்டிப்பார்க்கும் சுவாரசியத்திற்குச் சற்றும் குறையாத ஆர்வத்துடன் வாசகர்களும் அந்தச் செய்திகளை வாசிக்கின்றனர். பெரும்பாலும் அவர்களது விழிகள் பரபரப்புடன் தரிப்பது, இச்சமூகத்தில் விலக்கப்பட்ட கனியாகிய பாலியல் செய்திகளிலேயே. மேற்கண்ட தலைப்புகளில் ‘இனங்காணப்பட்ட’ அழகிகளுடன் சுகித்திருந்த அழகன்கள் எங்கே என்பது இப்போது பரவலாகக் கேட்கப்பட்டு வரும் கேள்வி. அண்மையில் ஆழியூரானின் பதிவிலும் செல்வநாயகியின் பதிவிலும் இந்தப் பாரபட்சம் குறித்துப் பேசப்பட்டிருந்தது. சம்பந்தப்பட்ட அழகன்களை விடுதியறைகளின் சுவர்கள் உள்ளிழுத்து மறைத்துவிட்டனவா? அல்லது ஆண்துணையற்று பாலியல் தொழில் நடத்தக்கூடிய அளவுக்கு இந்த ‘அழகிகள்’கைதேர்ந்த சாகசக்காரிகளாகிவிட்டார்களா?
விடை நமக்குத் தெரிந்ததே! விபச்சாரம் என்று ஊடகங்களால் சுட்டப்படும் செய்திகளின் கதாநாயகர்களான ஆண்கள் அவ்விடங்களிலிருந்து எங்ஙனமோ காணாமற்போய்விடுகிறார்கள். பணத்தையோ அதிகாரத்தையோ அன்றேல் ஆண் என்ற பிறப்பு வழி வந்த தகுதியையோ பயன்படுத்தி அவர்கள் தப்பித்துவிடுகிறார்கள். ஆக, கூடா ஒழுக்கமாக இச்சமூகத்தினால் கற்பிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிற ‘கூடும்’ பாவத்தின் தண்டனை முழுவதும் பெண்களையே சென்றடைகிறது. சமூகத்தின் எச்சிலையும், தவிர்க்க முடியாதபோது குழந்தையையும் அவர்களே சுமக்க வேண்டியவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.

இளைய தலைமுறையினரில் பலருக்கு குடும்பம் என்ற அமைப்பின் மீது அவநம்பிக்கை ஏற்பட்டுவருவதற்கு அது கொண்டிருக்கும் பாரபட்சமான உரிமைப்பகிர்தலும் ஒரு காரணமாகும். குடும்பம்,அரசியல்,இலக்கியம் என எங்கெங்கிலும் பரந்திருக்கும் ஆணாதிக்கம், பாலியல் தேவைகளைப் பூர்த்தி செய்யும் சந்தர்ப்பங்களிலும் தனது கோரமுகத்தைக் காட்டி ஆண்களைப் புனிதர்களாகப் பிரகடனப்படுத்த முயல்வது அருவருப்பூட்டுகிறது. உதாரணமாக, பெண்கவிஞர்களுள் சிலர் ‘முலை’என்றும் ‘யோனி’என்றும் கவிதைகளுள் வலிந்து இடம்பெறச் செய்வதற்கு கவனஈர்ப்பே முக்கிய காரணம் என்றும் சிலரால் சொல்லப்படுகிறது. அதே ‘முலை’யும் ‘யோனி’யும் ஆண் கவிஞர்களுடைய பேனா வழியாக எழுதப்படும்போது புனிதசொற்களாகிவிடுவது நகைப்பிற்குரியதே. பெண்ணிலிருந்து ஆணை வந்தடைவதற்கு இடையில் ஏதாவது குடமுழுக்கு,கும்பாபிசேகம் நடத்தி அந்தச் சொற்களைக் கழுவிவிட்டார்களா தெரியவில்லை.
நான் வசிக்கும் திருவான்மியூர் கடற்கரையோரத்திற்குப் பக்கத்தில் ஒரு சுடுகாடு இருக்கிறது. சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர், மதியமொன்றில் அந்த இடத்திலிருந்து பலத்த ஆரவாரம் கேட்டது. எட்டிப் பார்த்தபோது நிலத்தில் வீழ்ந்து கிடந்த ஒரு பெண்ணை சில ஆண்களும் பெண்களும் சேர்ந்து காட்டுத்தனமாக அடித்துக்கொண்டிருந்ததைக் காணமுடிந்தது. அந்தப் பெண் கையெடுத்துக் கும்பிட்டதை அவர்கள் பொருட்படுத்துவதாக இல்லை. எங்கள் வீட்டில் வம்பு அறிவதில் ஆர்வமும் சம்பவம் நடக்கும் இடங்களுக்குத் துணிந்து சென்று துப்பறிவதில் வல்லவருமான ஒரு ‘வீரர்’ இருக்கிறார். அவர் மிதிவண்டியில் விரைந்து போய் அறிந்து வந்து சொன்ன செய்தி இதுதான்.



“அது ஒரு கூடாத பொம்பிளையாம்”



அதை அவன் மிகச் சாதாரணமாக ‘அவளுக்கு வேண்டியதே’என்ற தோரணையில் சொன்னான். அவனளவில் அது முடிந்துவிட்டது. எனக்கு அதிர்ச்சியாக இருந்தது. ஒரு பிள்ளையின் மனதில் அவள் தண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டியவளே என்ற கருத்து எவ்விதம் ஆழமாகவும் உறுதியாகவும் விதைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது என்பதை நினைத்துப் பார்க்க வேதனை கலந்த வியப்பு எழுந்தது.


தலையைக் குனிந்துகொண்டு, துப்பட்டாவால் முகத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டு பத்திரிகைகளில் காண்பிக்கப்படும் பெண்களின் புகைப்படங்களைப் பார்க்குந்தோறும் மனக்கொதிப்பே எஞ்சுகிறது. அவர்களைப் பார்த்தால் சுட்டெரிக்கும் காமத்தீயைத் தணிக்க விடுதிகளுக்கு வந்தவர்களாகத் தெரியவில்லை. உடலை மூலதனமாக்கும்படியான நிலைக்குத் தள்ளி வாழ்க்கை அவர்களைத் தண்டித்துவிட்டது. அவ்வளவே! மனிதனின் மிருகவேட்கையை கட்டுக்குள் வைத்திருக்கவே கட்டமைக்கப்பட்டதாகக் கூறப்படும் திருமணத்தின் மூலமான கலவியில் வேண்டுமானால் பெண்ணுக்குச் சுகம் கிடைக்கலாம். (அதுவும் நிச்சயமாகச் சொல்வதற்கில்லை) ஆனால், வாதையும் வக்கிரம் பொருந்தியதும் கொடுத்த பணத்திற்குக் கூடியளவு கறந்துவிட முனைவதனால் வலி தருவதுமான கொடுமையை அவர்கள் வயிற்றுக்காகச் சகித்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டியிருக்கிறது. யாவற்றையும் தாங்கிக்கொண்டு தம்முடலை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பதற்கான காரணத்தை ஆராயப்புகுந்தால், அவர்கள் கூறும் கதைகள் மனப்பிறழ்வில் கொண்டுவிடும். ‘வேலை வாங்கித் தருவதாகச் சொல்லி ஏமாற்றி அழைத்துவந்து இங்கே தள்ளிவிட்டார்கள்…’எனத் தொடங்கி ஆயிரமாயிரம் கதைகள் அவர்களிடம் இருக்கும். எந்த உயிரும் தான் வாழும் சமூகம் தன்னை மதிக்க வேண்டும் என்றே எதிர்பார்க்கும். புழுவென இகழும் பார்வைகளை எதிர்கொள்ளும் எந்தவொருத்தியும் ‘நான் ஒரு விபச்சாரியாக்கும்-இன்னிக்கு நாலு பேரோடு படுத்தேன்’என்று பீற்றிக்கொள்ள மாட்டாள்.

கண்டுபிடிக்கப்படாதவரை சுத்தப்பூனைகளாயிருக்கும் நமது ‘புனித’சமூகம் அத்தகையோரை எப்படி நடத்துகிறது? ‘வேசிமகன்’என்ற வசைச்சொல் நம்முள் பிரபலமானதும் விளிக்கப்படுபவரின் உக்கிரத்தைத் தூண்டக்கூடியதுமாக இருக்கிறது. (ஏற்கெனவே பேசப்பட்டதுதான்) தெருவோரம் ‘வாடிக்கை’பிடிக்க அலையும் பெண்களின் மீது கண்களால் காறியுமிழ்ந்துவிட்டுப் போகிறவர்கள்தான் நம்மில் அநேகர். திறந்த வெளிகளில் கௌரவம் பார்த்துக் காறியுமிழ்ந்து போகும் அதே ஆண்களுக்கு, பூட்டிய அறைகளுக்குள் நிகழ்த்தும் சுயமைதுனத்தின்போது அதே வேசிகளின் ஆடையகற்றப்பட்ட சித்திரங்கள் வேண்டியிருக்கிறது என்பது பேசத்தகாத தேவரகசியம்.
வேசிகள் என்றொரு சமூகக்குழு பிறப்பிலிருந்து உருவாவதில்லை. பாலியல் தொழிலாளர்களை சமூகம்தான் உருவாக்குகிறது. சமூகம் என்பது நானும் நீங்களும் நீங்கலான ஒன்றல்ல. தன்மீது ஒருவனைப் படரவிட்டு வானத்தைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருப்பவள் ஒரு குழந்தையின் தாயாக இருக்கலாம். அந்தக் குழந்தையின் வயிறு, தனது தாயின் வயிற்றுக்குக் கீழிருக்கும் உறுப்பினை ஒருவன் நிறைப்பதன் வழியாகத்தான் நிறையுமென்றால் அது எத்தகைய குரூரம்!

ஒரு உயிரின் இருண்ட பக்கங்கள் எங்ஙனம் உருவாகின என்பதைக் குறித்து நம்மில் யாருக்கும் கவலையில்லை. நம்மில் பெரும்பாலானோர் பொதுப்புத்தியின் வழி இயங்குபவர்களே! சுயமாகச் சிந்திக்க நேரமற்ற இவ்வியந்திர உலகில் நமது மூளையில் கருத்துருவாக்கம் செய்பவை ஊடகங்களே. விபச்சாரிகள் சாக்கடைப் புழுக்களிலிருந்து உருவானவர்கள் எனக் கற்பித்திருப்பதில் ஊடகங்களின் பங்கு முக்கியம். அழகிகளையும் அவர்களை ‘நெறிப்படுத்திய’தரகர்களையும் கனகாரியமாகப் புகைப்படமெடுத்துப் போடுபவர்களது கண்களில் பாவமெனப்படுவதில் பங்குகொண்ட ஆண்கள் தென்படுவதேயில்லையா…? திரைப்படங்களும் தம் பங்கிற்குத் தாலியறுக்கின்றன. கைதாகும் பாலியல் தொழிலாளிகள் கலகலவெனச் சிரித்தபடி காவல் வண்டிகளில் ஏறுபவர்களாகவும் தமக்கு அருகிலிருக்கும் பொலிசாரை வம்பிற்கு இழுப்பவர்களாகவும் கைதானது தமது வாழ்வின் உன்னத தருணங்களில் ஒன்றெனக் கொண்டாடுபவர்களாகவுமே திரைப்படங்களில் காட்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.

பான்பராக் விற்பவனிலிருந்து பங்குவணிகம் வரை சக உயிரைச் சுரண்டிப் பிழைக்கும் பொதுவிதியின்படி இயங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது இவ்வுலகம். இட ஒதுக்கீடு என்கிறார்கள்@ இல்லத்தில் வேலைப் பங்கீடு புழக்கத்தில் வந்துவிட்டது என்கிறார்கள். பெண்ணடிமைத்தனம் இல்லவே இல்லையென்றுகூடச் சாதிக்கிறார்கள் சிலர். இருளடர்ந்த தெருவொன்றில் இரவு ஒன்பது மணிக்குப் பிறகு நடந்துசெல்லும் ஒரு பெண், எந்தக் கணமும் ஓடத் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதுதான் இங்குள்ள நியதி. இத்தகு நீதிமிகு சமூகத்தில் அழகிகள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்படுவதும் அழகன்கள் காணாமற் போவதும் வியப்பளிக்கும் ஒன்றல்ல.

The Prince of Persia

I am having my cycle tests .. and it is very ironic that during the cycle tests only we get really wierd ideas and wierd thoughts and suddenly all the interest in the world was to play some computer games .. During the normal period, I have never felt this much urge to play a game .. lol .. anyways, i got hold of Prince of Persia Warrior Within and installed it .. The first thing you notice about the game is the sexy graphics .. and the even more sexier fighting sequences ..



Well, the storyline continues from the previous title, Prince of Persia The sands of time .. Really very intersting storyline (read it in wikipedia, playing the game, its difficult to understand the intricacies involved) ..



I had finished more than half the game these three days of cycle tests .. lol .. three of us are playing in three profiles and competing to finish the game ..



I’ll tell the basic storyline .. Story is about “The Prince of Persia” .. the prince and his father (the king) go and conquer a distant land Azad .. They conquer Azad and get the spoils of war from them which includes a mysterious hour-glass filled with the sands of time and the dagger of time .. The prince used the dagger to open the hour-glass and the sands of time destroys entire Azad .. the prince now holds the power to manipulate time (during the game ‘POP : Sands of Time) .. he wants to undo the damage he has done and so he tries to goes back in time (with the princess of Azad named ‘Farah’) before the sands have been opened .. and he does so .. but unfortunately fate has it so like that whomsoever has opened the sands must die .. A beast called ‘Dahaka’ is the guardian of the timeline .. So it now pursues to kill the Prince .. The Prince now gets a idea .. He goes back in time to the time before the sands were created and plans to kill the ‘Empress of Time’ .. if the sands were not created then the Dahaka will leave him alone .. this is what he plans to do in ‘POP : Warrior Within” .. well things go wrong (as usual) ..



for the rest of the story, go play the game .. Warrior Within is followed by ‘Prince of Persia : The two thrones” and i heard that two thorones has more graphics than WW .. and there has been word that Prince of Persia : The Ultimate Warrior is the next in the title .. And also in 2009 , a Prince of Persia movie is being released .. !!!!! .. Now i am really getting dragged into the Persian world .. play the game .. you’ll understand .. lol .. enjoy ..

To hell with Task manager

My cousin bro, who works in Microsoft came over to my place a few days back .. Since he was working under WinXP in M$, I asked him to sort out my unusually and dead-slow computer .. He said that there were a lot of unwanted background programs running .. I tried to act smart .. !! .. I said that I tried closing all stuff in ‘task manager’ but still the computer is slow .. !! .. and also sometimes the ‘explorer.exe’ was taking up lots of CPU but I cannot end explorer !! ..



Ok now he laughed .. !! .. He said task-manager was just a eye-wash for script kiddies .. Wtf !! ?? .. Task-manager looks so much like ‘professional computer geeky stuff’ but actually its just a stupid thing which doesn’t even show exact CPU usage .. M$ has another ‘hidden-tool’ it seems .. This is called ‘Process Explorer’ .. you can download it here .. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx



Now Process Explorer is the actual ‘task-manager’ .. It shows you all the threads and the sub-threads that run on your windows box .. and you can replace your ‘task-manager’ with this .. how cool !! ..



To hell with the old task-manager .. and Process manager doesn’t stop there, it also gives you full details of every process, threads running in your windows box .. just right-click each process to display the full info .. and also you can kill each process or the entire process tree .. this is very useful when some sub-process of explorer is choking your computer .. You don’t have to close entire explorer.exe, you can kill that sub-process alone ..





Moreover, when a new process is started, its shown in green and when a process is killed it’s shown in red .. this is very useful when some arbit programs run on their own .. you can isolate the program which is being executed without your permission ..



There is more to Process-Explorer but unfortunately I couldn’t understand whatever he said to me (it got too technical at this point of time) ..



And ya, he wanted me to read Mark’s Blog .. Mark is one of the most techy guy in M$ it seems ..

பந்த் தேவைதானா..?

என் இனிய வலைத்தமிழ் மக்களே..!



சேது சமுத்திரத் திட்டத்தை தாமதமின்றி விரைவில் செயல்படுத்தக் கோரி வரும் அக்டோபர் 1-ம் தேதி, தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் முழு அளவிலான பந்த் நடத்தப்படும் என்று தமிழக அரசை ஆளும் கூட்டணியின் சார்பில் அதன் தலைவரான முதல்வர் அறிவித்துள்ளார்.



பந்த் என்றால் என்ன நடக்கும்?



அரசுப் பேருந்துகள் இயங்காது.. ரயில் சேவை நிறுத்தப்படும். தொழிற்சாலைகள், கடைகள் அனைத்தும் மூடப்படும். சினிமா தியேட்டர்கள் மூடப்படும். சாலைகள் அமைதியாக யாருமற்று காணப்படும்.



இவை அனைத்தும் ஊடகங்களின் கவனத்திற்குட்பட்டு, ‘பந்த் மாபெரும் வெற்றி‘ என அறிவிக்கப்படும்.



இதனால் யாருக்கு லாபம்..?



ஒரு நாளின் தொழிலும், வர்த்தகமும் நிறுத்தப்படுமாயின் எவ்வளவு ரூபாய்கள் அரசுகளுக்கு இழப்பு ஏற்படும் என்பதை யோசித்துப் பாருங்கள்.



கோயம்பேடு மார்க்கெட்டின் ஒரு நாளைய வர்த்தகமே 5 கோடி என்கிறார்கள். இவை சாதாரண இடைநிலை, கடை நிலை வர்த்தகர்களுக்கு கிடைக்கப் போகும் பணம். அன்று ஒரு நாள் அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்காது. சரி.



ஆனால், அழுகும் நிலை காய்கறிகளை விற்பனை செய்யும் இந்த அன்றாடங் காய்ச்சிகளுக்கு அது இழுப்புதானே.. அன்றைக்கு அழுகிப் போன காய்கறிகளை மறுநாள் மார்க்கெட்டின் எதிர்ப்புறம் இருக்கும் குப்பையில்தான் போட வேண்டும். அதை உற்பத்தி செய்ய ஒவ்வொரு விவசாயியும் எவ்வளவு போராடியிருப்பான்..? இதை யாரிடம் போய் இவன் சொல்லுவான்..?



பேருந்துகள் ஓடாது.. அன்றைக்கு தாம்பரத்தில் இருக்கும் ஒருவரின் உறவினர் வண்ணாரப்பேட்டையில் இறந்துவிட்டால் அவர் என்ன செய்வார்..? கால்டாக்ஸி பிடித்துச் செல்ல வேண்டுமா..? அல்லது அவரால்தான் முடியுமா? எத்தனை பேரால் இந்த சமூகச் சீர்கேட்டை உடனடியாக ஒரே நாளில் எதிர் கொள்ள முடியும்..? இதற்கான வசதியும், வாய்ப்புகளும் மக்கள் அனைவரிடமும் இருக்கின்றதா..?



ஒருவருக்கு உடல் நிலை சரியில்லை என்றால் மருத்துவனைக்கு எப்படிச் செல்வது? ரோட்டில் பஸ், கார், லாரி எதுவும் போகக்கூடாது என்று சில கும்பல்கள் கையில் கம்புகளுடன் நடு ரோட்டில் வந்து நிற்கும்போது அந்த உயிரைப் பற்றிக் கவலைப்படப் போவது யார்..?



நகரப் பகுதிகளில் பரவாயில்லை.. எப்படியாவது ஆட்டோ, டாக்ஸி பிடித்தாவது சென்றுவிடுவார்கள். ஆனால் ஒரு நாளைக்கு மூன்று முறை வந்து செல்லும் பேருந்துகளை மட்டுமே நம்பியிருக்கும் கிராமப்புற மக்கள் என்ன செய்வார்கள்? அது அவர்களது தலையெழுத்தா..? அல்லது ஓட்டுப் போட்டதற்கு கிடைத்த பரிசா..?



வர்த்தகர்கள் குறித்த நேரத்தில் பணம் அனுப்பினால்தான் பொருட்கள் கிடைத்து அதன் மூலம் அவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும் நம்பகத்தன்மைதான் அவருடைய மிகப் பெரிய முதலீடு. அதையும் உடைத்துவிட்டால் அவர் எங்கே போய் புலம்புவார்..?



பந்த் என்பதற்காக அன்றைய ஒரு நாளைய வட்டி கேட்கப்பட மாட்டாது என்று எந்த வங்கியும், லேவாதேவிக்காரர்களும், வட்டி பிஸினஸ் செய்பவர்களும் சொல்லி நான் கேள்விப்பட்டதில்லை..



அன்றைக்கு கடைசி தேதி என்று அறிவிக்கப்படும் எந்தவொரு தொழில், நுகர்வோர் விஷயங்களும் பந்த் என்பதால் விட்டுக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டு விடுமா..? இல்லையெனில் யாரிடம் போய் கேட்பது..?



அன்றைய நாளில் ஏதேனும் ஒரு கடை திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டு அதனை கலவரக்காரர்கள் தாக்கினால் அதற்கு யார் பொறுப்பு..?



ஜனநாயக நாடான இந்தியாவில் இப்படியரு பந்தை நான் எதிர்க்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லி ஆங்காங்கே சிலர் கடைகளைத் திறந்து வைத்திருந்தால் அவர்களுக்கெல்லாம் பாதுகாப்பு அளிக்கப் போவது யார்..?



அரசே சொல்லிவிட்டதால் கடைகளை இழுத்து மூடியே தீர வேண்டும் எனில் அந்த ஒரு நாளைய வருமானத்தை அந்தக் கடைக்காரர்களுக்கு யார் தருவது..? அந்தத் தொகையை இழக்க வைப்பது அவரிடமிருந்து திருடுவதற்கு சமமில்லையா..?



அரசுகள் என்ன சொன்னாலும் கண்ணை மூடிக் கொண்டு ஒப்புக்கொள்ள வேண்டுமெனில் இங்கே என்ன கருத்து சுதந்திரம் உள்ளது..?



ஆர்ப்பாட்டக்காரர்களுக்கு அவர்களுடைய அடாவடித்தனத்தைக் காட்டுவதற்கு ஒரு மேடை அமைத்துக் கொடுப்பதுதான் அரசின் வேலையா..?



நகரங்களில் பேச்சிலராக இருப்பவர்கள் சோத்துக்கு என்ன செய்வார்கள்?



இது மாதிரி பந்த் அறிவித்தால் முதலில் மூடப்படுவது ஹோட்டல்கள்தான். ஏனெனில் அன்றைக்கு கூட்டம் குறைவாக வந்துவிட்டால் செய்தது எல்லாம் வீணாகிவிடுமே என்பது ஒன்று.. மற்றொன்று கலவரக்காரர்கள் முதலில் குறி வைக்கப்போவது இது மாதிரியான ஹோட்டல்களைத்தான்.. அதுதான் இப்போது தட்டிக் கேட்கவும் ஆட்களே இல்லையே.. அரசே சொல்லிவிட்டதால் போலீஸ் கை வைத்துவிடுமா என்ன?



நானும் முன்னொரு சமயம் இதே போன்று ஒரு பந்த் தினத்தன்று கடைகளைத் தேடி நாயாக அலைந்து பின்பு வேறு வழியில்லாமல் 5 ஆண்டுகளாக நான் சென்னையில் இருப்பது தெரிந்திருந்தும் அழைக்காமல் இருந்த ஒரு வீட்டிற்கு, அழையா விருந்தாளியாகச் சென்று ‘முழுங்கிவிட்டு‘ வந்ததை வெட்கத்துடன் குறிப்பிட்டுச் சொல்லத்தான் வேண்டும்..



சென்னையில் ரூம் டுத்துத் தங்கியிருப்பவர்களுக்கு அன்றைய உணவுக்கான பொறுப்பு எவருடையது என்று யாரும் கேட்டுவிடாதீர்கள்.. அது அவர்கள் பாடு.. பேச்சிலர்களாக இருந்து, இது போல் கடைகளையே நம்பி வாழுகின்ற ஜீவன்களை உணவுக்காகவே “நாளை யார் வீட்டுக்குப் போகலாம்..” என்று யோசிக்க வைக்கின்ற கொடுமையை அரசுகளே செய்வது பசியின் கொடுமையைவிட கொடியது..



ஏற்கெனவே செப்டம்பர் 30 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை. விடுமுறை… அக்டோபர்-1 திங்கள்கிழமை பந்த்-கட்டாய விடுமுறை, அக்டோபர்-2 காந்தி ஜெயந்தி.. விடுமுறை நாள்தான்..



இப்படி தொடர்ந்து மூன்று விடுமுறை நாட்கள் வந்ததெனில் அரசுத் துறையின் வேலைகள் எவ்வளவு பாதிக்கப்படும்..?



அன்றைய நாளில் கிடைப்பதாக இருப்பவை மூன்று நாட்கள் கழித்தெனில் அந்த மூன்று நாட்களும் ஏதோ ஒரு வகையில் பாதிக்கப்படப் போவது யார்? பொதுமக்கள்தானே..



ஏற்கெனவே மாதத்திற்கு 10 நாட்களுக்குக் குறைவில்லாமல் விடுமுறை கிடைக்குமளவுக்கு அரசு ஊழியர்களுக்கு ஊக்கத்தைக் கொடுத்து கெடுத்து வைத்திருப்பவை அரசுகள்தான்.. இதில் இதுபோல் திடீர் விடுமுறைகளை வழங்கி அவர்களை வளைப்பது ஓட்டு வங்கியை வளைக்கின்ற நோக்கம் மட்டும்தானே..



அதிலும் இந்த முறை கூடுதல் கவன ஈர்ப்பாக அக்டோபர் 1-ம் தேதியன்று நடிகர் திலகம் சிவாஜிகணேசனின் பிறந்த நாள் வருகிறது.



அன்றைக்கு அவருடைய ரசிகர்கள் ஊர்வலமாகச் சென்று கடற்கரையில் இருக்கும் அவரது சிலைக்கு மாலையணிவித்து நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்தப் போவதாக ஏற்கெனவே அறிவித்திருந்தார்கள். அதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகளையும் செய்து முடித்துவிட்டார்கள். இப்போது இந்த ரசிகர்களுக்கு அரசு என்ன பதில் சொல்லப் போகிறது?



“உன் தலைவனை அடுத்த நாள் கும்பிட்டுக் கொள்..” என்றா..?



அப்படியென்றால் அனைத்துத் தலைவர்களின் விசேஷ நாட்களிலும் இப்படி ஆளுக்கொருவர் பந்த் அறிவித்தால் நம்மை வளர்த்த சான்றோர்களின் மீது நமக்கிருக்கும் அக்கறைதான் என்ன..?



ஒட்டு மொத்தமாக தமிழகத்தில் பந்த் எனில் தொழில் துறையில் மட்டுமே சுமாராக 2000 கோடி ரூபாய் அளவுக்கு நஷ்டமாகும்..



இந்த நஷ்டம் வெளியில் தெரியாமல், இதனால் நேரடியாகப் பாதிக்கப்படப் போகின்றவர்கள் அரசியல்வாதிகளாக இல்லாமல் இருப்பதினாலும்தான் இந்த பந்த் கூத்து அனைத்து அரசுகளாலும், அனைத்து அரசியல் கட்சிகளினாலும் தொடர்ந்து நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.



பந்த் நடத்தித்தான் மக்களின் கவனத்தைக் கவர முடியுமா?



சேது சமுத்திரத் திட்டத்தை விரைவில் நடைமுறைப்படுதத வேண்டும் என்பது கோரிக்கை.



அந்தத் துறை யாருடையது மத்திய கப்பல் மற்றும் நீர்வழிப் போக்குவரத்துத் துறையுடையது. அந்தத் துறையின் அமைச்சர் டி.ஆர்.பாலு. தி.மு.க.வின் மேல் மட்டத் தலைவர். அவர் தலைமையில் இருக்கின்ற அமைச்சகமே சரிவர வேலை செய்யவில்லை எனில் அவரைத்தானே கேள்வி கேட்க வேண்டும்.. அவரையும் மீறி நடக்கிறது எனில் அவர் ராஜினாமா செய்துவிட்டு தன்னை மீறி தன் துறையிலேயே காரியங்கள் நடைபெறுகின்றன என்று உண்மையை மக்களிடம் சொல்லாமே..?



மத்தியில் ஆளும் கூட்டணி அரசிற்கும், தமிழக முதல்வர்தான் தலைவர். புத்தக வெளியீட்டு விழாவுக்கும், அரசியல் நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்கும், தனிப்பட்ட நிகழ்வுகளுக்கும் நொடியில் போனில் பேசுகின்ற அளவுக்கு செல்வாக்கும் இருக்கின்றபோது அதன் வழியாக இந்தப் பிரச்சினையை விரைந்து செயல்படுத்துபடி பேசுவதை விட்டுவிட்டு அப்பாவி மக்களின் அடிமடியில் கை வைப்பது எந்த வகையில் சிறந்த அரசியல்..?



மத்திய அரசு சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட்டில் சமர்ப்பித்த ஆவணத்தில் தங்களுக்கு உடன்பாடில்லை என்றால் அதை வெளியில் சொல்லி எங்கள் கருத்தை ஏற்காத இடத்தில் நாங்கள் இருக்க மாட்டோம் என்று சொல்லி கூட்டணியிலிருந்து வெளியேறலாமே..? மக்கள் மனமுவந்து ஏற்பார்களே..



இதைச் செய்யாமல் ஏதோ ரிக்ஷா ஓட்டுபவனும், கை வண்டி இழுப்பவனும்தான் இந்த விஷயத்தில் குற்றவாளி என்பதைப் போல், அவனது ஒரு நாள் பொழைப்பைக் கெடுப்பது சிறந்த நிர்வாகமா?



கண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டியவர்கள் மத்தியில் ஆளும் நிர்வாகத்தினர். அவர்களுடைய நிர்வாகத்தில் இங்கே இருப்பவர்களும் பங்கு கொண்டுள்ளார்கள். அப்படியிருக்க தமிழகத்தில் பந்த் எதற்கு? பேசாமல் இங்கேயுள்ள ஆளும் கட்சி சட்டமன்ற உறுப்பினர்கள் அனைவரும் டெல்லி சென்று பிரதமர் வீட்டு முன் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபடலாமே..?



‘மத்திய அரசின் கவன ஈர்ப்புத்தானே‘ இந்தப் போராட்டத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கம். அதை டெல்லியிலேயே போய்ச் செய்யலாமே..? உடனடி கவனம் பெறுமே..?



இப்போது அனைவருக்குள்ளும் எழுகின்ற கேள்வி யாதெனில், மக்களுக்கு உண்டாகப் போகின்ற கெடுதிகளை வருமுன் காக்கின்ற கடமையைச் செய்ய வேண்டியவை அரசுக்கு இருக்கிறதா? இல்லையா..?



விஷயம் கோர்ட்டின் பரிசீலனையில் உள்ளது என்பதனை மறைத்துவிட்டு, ‘இதனால் நமக்கு கெட்ட பெயர் வந்துவிடக்கூடாது. நாம் எப்போதும் நல்லவர்களாகத்தான் மக்களின் கண்களுக்குக் காட்சி தர வேண்டும்.. எப்போதும் நம்மை எதிர்ப்பவர்களே கெட்டவர்கள்.. நம்மை எப்போதும் ஆதரிப்பவர்களே நமது தோழர்கள்‘ என்கிற ஆளும்கட்சிகளின் அரசியல் சூத்திரத்தில் சிக்கித் தவிக்கும் ஓட்டுப் போட்ட மக்கள்தான், இவை இரண்டையும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு எப்போதும் அமைதியாக இருப்பவர்கள்..



இவர்களின் அமைதி என்றைக்கு முடிகிறதோ, அன்றைக்குத்தான் இது மாதிரியான முட்டாள்தனங்களுக்கும் முற்றுப்புள்ளி கிடைக்கும்.

Bias

I have been typing a post on Aynrand’s libertarian thoughts… and yet to finish the same :)



Was thinking quite seriously about one specific topic over this week — Bias, a simple one and not as strong as prejudice.



I had never been able to come up with any rational reasons as why we like some people on first sight, why we feel averse over few people on first sight… maybe it boils down to Body language of the individual in picture or to something called Likability factor of the individual.



And infact this is not only specific to people whom we see in person… this bias is applicable even while answering a few mobile marketing calls… atleast here, maybe our reply might depend on our current state of mood as well.



But interestingly, when we like some people, we really overlook the minor mistakes made by them and we are also very lenient and flexible while interacting with these people.



and the thing is, it doesn’t happen always and also not with many individuals.. it happens only in very few instances with few individuals…



also i was wondering whether everybody faces these instances of bias… checked with 3 of my friends… two of them completely agreed with me… other mentioned that he feels only averse on seeing new people :) (well he seemed to have had a bad day in office and i ended up asking this question quite enthusiastically:))

A Forward - For a change, worth reading

At a fund raising dinner for a school that serves learning-disabled children, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question: “When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does is done with perfection. Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?”

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. “I believe, that when a child like Shay, physically and mentally handicapped comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.”

Then he told the following story:

Shay and his father had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, “Do you think they’ll let me play?” Shay’s father knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but the father also understood that if his son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

Shay’s father approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, “We’re losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we’ll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.”

Shay struggled over to the team’s bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear in his eye and warmth in his heart. The boys saw the father’s joy at his son being accepted. In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay’s team scored a few runs but was still behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as his father waved to him from the stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay’s team scored again. Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn’t even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay’s life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed. The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay. As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over. The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman. Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman’s head, out of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, “Shay, run to first! Run to first!” Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base. He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, “Run to second, run to second!” Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base. By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball … the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team. He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher’s intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman’s head. Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, “Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay”

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, “Run to third! Shay, run to third!”

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, “Shay, run home! Run home!” Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team.

“That day”, said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, “the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world”.

Shay didn’t make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making his father so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it’s least fortunate amongst them. Please look inside yourselves and reflect upon how you treat not only the people around you with whom you interact daily, but the least unfortunate ones.

Oopsie! I can’t see anything !!

My friend recently installed SuSe10.2 in his comp .. Well, it was the first time he is installing linux so he’s bound to get some problems (as usual) .. I cleared him up with all the partition stuff .. The partitioning is usually the most critical part of installation and after that everything should go smooth ..



Well it didn’t .. He had installed fully Suse but when he booted the comp and loaded linux, all the loading stuff is displayed and after that the screen goes blank ..



So he re-installed Linux and same thing happened again .. !!! .. Display poof .. Well there was some problem in configuration of the display device but how is it be changed without the display itself ..



Well for him the problem was in his X system .. the Graphical part of the SuSe system .. I had asked a friend of mine (who’s in Novell) and this is what had to be done ..



1. First go to your non-X display ( press Alt + F1 to get the first non-X display, Alt + F2 for second session and so on .. your seventh session Alt + F7 is the graphical display )

2. Log in here in your non-X session ..

3. Go Super User (use command ’su’)

4. Edit the xorg.conf file in /etc/X11 (use command ‘vi /etc/X11/xorg.conf’)

5. Try changing settings here



My friend changed his vertical refresh rate and the X display worked !! .. You don’t have to re-install Linux for a small issue .. lol .. chal enjoy linux .. !!

Judicial activism vis-a-vis executive audacity

I have tried to resist writing related to politics, which is my favourite domain, for long — but after this one incident of judicial overreach or executive arrogance,whatever you may call it, I couldn’t help.


Background



M.Karunanidhi (MK)(Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) had passionately been vouching for the Sethusamudram project, which involves constructing a canal across the Sethu bridge between India and Sri Lanka, to reduce shipping time between the two countries and improve trade. The project had been approved by the Centre during June 2005, and it’s implementation started henceforth.


However this project involved dredging right across what is known as the Adam’s Bridge(a.k.a Ram Sethu). This ‘bridge’ is believed to have been built by Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, to cross over to Lanka to rescue his wife.


Quite expectedly, petitions were filed in the Supreme Court pleading a stay/cancellation of the Sethu project. Having granted an interim stay,the SC sought the Centre’s response on the issue.


ASI’s foolishness



The Archeological Survey of India(ASI) filed an affidavit in response to the SC’s query. The affidavit said that the Ram Sethu was a natural formation and not a man-made structure.


It could have well stopped at that. The ASI tried to act smart, exceeding it’s brief and claiming that there was no proof to support Ram’s existence. The Centre was embarrassed, and fearing a backlash from communalists, suspended a couple of ASI officials and filed a modified affidavit a couple of days later.


MK miffed


MK, a known atheist, was miffed at this. It prompted him to take refuge under his famed anti-Hindu stand. He commented that a mythical character couldn’t be used to hinder development. Further, he called for a bandh in Tamil Nadu, to press for the speedy implementation of the project. The game had begun.(MK - 1, SC - 0).


Quite expectedly, JJ, MK’s main opposition, seized on this opportunity and filed a petition in the SC against the bandh. The SC came down heavily on MK and ordered the TN govt not to hold a bandh, stating that ‘public right is superior to the right of political parties’(MK - 1, SC -1).




MK cleverly changed tack promptly and changed his ‘bandh’ call to that of a ‘hunger strike’. After all, extensive preparations had been done for the bandh to become a success, and he couldn’t possibly dissappoint his party workers. And of course, we all know that a ‘hunger strike’ is just a euphemism for a bandh, atleast in TN.(MK - 2, SC - 1)



Judicial activism



JJ immediately went to court and lamented. Unfortunately for MK, judges aren’t fools. They saw straight through MK’s ploy. The SC, though, was unusually harsh in it’s observation. It pointed out that the constitutional machinery had broken down in the state, and that the Centre should consider the dismissal of the TN govt. (MK - 2, SC - 2)



It’s clearly a correct, but impractical observation, especially given the fact that MK is a strong ally of the UPA. The UPA wouldn’t even dream of upsetting the old man and losing his support, given the never-ending headache it already has, with the Left. The SC did well to draw the line with an observation. Had it given a direction in this regard, the Centre wouldn’t have budged, and the SC would’ve risked losing it’s respect.


MK blinks, scuttles for cover

However, the stinging observation seemed to have had the desired effect. MK immediately left the venue (after about 3 hrs of ‘hunger strike’) and later in the day, went to office and then home. DMK leaders said that he had to meet a doctor.(Yeah.. He would’ve gotten butterflies in his stomach :-) ). But he still insists that he had not violated any SC order and that shops had closed on their own and bus drivers had, on their own accord, taken leave(yeah.. as if we would believe that..). With scores level, it still remains to be seen as to what would gain the upper hand.. executive arrogance or judicial activism..
