gajAnanayutham and shrI kAnthImathIm
Posted by as hEmavathi, shrI kAnthimathIm
Last weekend was peaceful. I had a very nice session with SK and his amma. Her voice sounded just like Vedavalli and her renditions of the ghaNTA navAvarNam and shrI shukra bhagavantham are still ringing in my ears. Day before yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity of listening to SK in full flow. It started with the beautiful kAmbhOji navAvarNam in which SK showed me more of dIkshithar’s brilliance as to how thalaivar had split aTa tALam perfectly in the middle and made it symmetric, went all over the 72 mELAs and culminated with the amazing ghaNTA navAvarNam once again. We had an extremely wholesome discussion for an hour and 40 minutes on the phone and came to the only logical conclusion..as always..dIkshithar is GOD!! :)
I am going to take up gajAnanayutham first..that beautiful vEgavAhini which has become to be known as an extremely auspicious invocation song. With today being Vinayaka chathurthi, it is extremely apt that I am starting off with this krithi. It is a small samAshTi charanam with just 10 words :). I am taking up this kutti krithi just to show that dIkshithar doesnt spare any rAgA..he exploits vEgavAhini’s beauty to the core in this krithi. Infact, the smaller the dIkshithar krithi, more the power of the punch packed in that small dynamo..It sounds sweet and refreshing. The pallavi goes like:
Pallavi:
gajAnanayutham ganEshwaram bhajAmi sathatham surEshwaram
Meaning:
dIkshithar starts off with a small salutation-” I constantly(“sathatham”) sing the praise of(“bhajAmi”) of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-faced one(“gajAnanayutham”) and the Lord(“Eshwaram”) of all dEvAs(“sura”).”
This krithi was composed by Dikshithar when he visited the Uchchi Pillayar temple in trichy. I have heard many versions of the krithi but perhaps the best ever would be that of SSI. I vividly remember the rAga chAya he brings into the krithi and sings amazing sangathis in these few lines of the pallavi. This krithi is perhaps most beautiful because of its
simplicity. These lines provide ample scope for improvisation and the rAgA’s beauty is completely brought out in these few lines. The samAshTi charanam which follows makes the krithi symmetric with both the pallavi and charanam containing the same number of words.
Charanam:
ajEndrapUjitavignEshwaram gaNadisannutapadapadmakaram kunjarabanjanachaturatarakaram guruguhAgrajam praNavAkAram Meaning:
DIkshithar describes Lord Ganapathi as “the one who is worshipped(“pUjita”) by Brahma and Indra(“ajEndra”)” and “the remover of all obstacles(“vignEshwaram”)” and “the one whose lotus-like(“padma”) hands(“karam”) and feet(“padam”) are worshipped(“sannuta”) by Ganas(”hence the name, ganapathi-Lord of the Ganas”). dIkshithar continues to describe the Lord as “the one who destroyed(“banjana”) kunjara and showed his skill and cleverness(“chaturataram”). He is the elder brother (“agrajam”) of guruguha and is in the form(“AkAram”) of the Pranava mantra”.
The madhyamakAla sAhityam is beautiful as usual and he brings in the rAga mudhra without any trouble as usual. :). He finishes of the charanam by saying that Lord Ganapathi is in the form of the pranava. For depictions and detailed explanations about this reference, please read the post on vAthApi ganapathim by me(one of my earliest posts). Other than that, there is nothing much to talk about. A fairly simple krithi which is usually taught to beginners as it will lay a solid ground for their fundamentals.
Now I will move on to “shrI kAnthimathim”, an amazing piece in hEmAvathi, the 58th mELA, which has offlate become one of my most favourite rAgAs. dIkshithar composed this krithi when he visited tirunelveli which is shown in the sAhityam “shuddha tAmpraparni thata sthithAm”. The krithi has a soul in it which creates a sort of very intoxicating and sullen mood and it leaves you wanting for more. And once again, the SSI version of the krithi is beautiful and something to be experienced. Goddess kAnthimathi(Parvathi) is saluted and depicted with great care by dIkshithar. Every word has its beauty and infinite possibilities to showcase the beauty and scope of this rAgA.
Pallavi:
shrI kAnthimathIm shankara yuvathIm
shrI guruguha janani vandEham
Meaning:
dIkshithar sings “Goddess kAnthimathi, the young wife(“yuvathIm”) of Lord Shiva(“shankara”), I prostrate before you and worship(“vandEham”) you, the mother(“janani”) of guruguha.”
Simple sAhityams as usual provide the flexibility required to sing beautiful sangathis. The “R; G M P D P” start is amazing and the “R; G R R S” take-off for “shrI guruguha” is just mind-blowing. It sets the tone of the krithi and establishes it as a masterpiece. I also love the “N D P M G R S” which people sing for “vandEham”. The pallavi in itself completes hEmavathi according to me. The first time I heard the pallavi, I thought “what could be more beautiful and comprehensive than this?” and dIkshithar answered me immediately with the charanam of the krithi..he makes a statement basically. No one ever will handle hEmavathi like this and no one needs to :).
Charanam:
hrImkAra bIjakAra vadanAm hiranya maNImaya shobhA sadanAm
pAkashAsanAdi dEva vinuthAm parashurAma natha himashaila suthAm
shukha shounakAdi sadArAdithAm shudhatAmpraparnI thata sthithAm
shankAdhyashTOtthara sahasra kalashAbhishEka modhAm surahithAm
Meaning:
dIkshithar gives the ultimate salute to the Goddess by saying “she has the form(”AkAra”) of the hrIm bIja mantra.” Just like Om(the father), hrIm is yet another powerful mantra and is considered the mother of all sounds on earth. hrIm is also the bIja mantra of the supreme sahasrAra chakra( the thousand petalled lotus) at the top of the brain in the astral body. By reciting the hrIm mantra and proper meditation, souls attain kaivalyam. And dIkshithar seems to be referring to the sahasrAra chakra when he refers to the dEvi as “She resides in the lustrous(”shobhA”) golden(”hiranya”) palace(”sadanAm”) filled(”maya”) with gems(”maNi”)”.
dIkshithar sings “She is praised and worshipped(”vinuthAm”) by Indra(”pAkashAsana”) and other(”aadi”) Gods(”dEvAs”). She is worshipped(”nutha”) by ParashurAma and is the daughter(”suthAm”) of the God of the mountains(”hima shaila”).”
The madhyamakAla sAhityam is the climax of this great piece. He takes it to a new level with the “P S N D P M” phrase at “shukha shounakAdi”, the jIva phrase of hEmavathi..amazing only!!! dIkshithar continues to praise the Goddess “She is worshipped(”ArAdhithAm”) by shukha, shounaka and all the other saints and yOgIs. She resides(”sthithAm”) on the banks of(”thata”) of the pure(”shudha”) tAmpraranI river. She is bathed and her feet washed(”abhisheka”) with divine water from the pitchers(”kalasa”) containing the waters from all the 108 divine sthalams and conches(”shankAdhyashTOtthara”). She is benevolent(”mOdhAm”) to the celestial Gods(”surahithAm”).”
And the sAhityams just beautifully fit with the mood he creates. He once again uses the “PSND” phrase at “sahasra” and goes up to the “S M G R” in the thAra sthAyi at “kalashAbishEka” and then peacefully comes down for “mOdhAm surahithAm” as if to emphasize the merciful, benevolent side of the dEvi. And it beautifully blends in with the start of the pallavi to complete the epic :). Sometimes, this hEmavathi is so intoxicating and compelling that it keeps me drowned and helpless for weeks together. On the whole, the best ever krithi in hEmavathi and who else can do such justice to the rAga and beautifully using “hEmavathi”(another name for the dEvi) itself to describe shrI kAnthimathi..amazing stuff yet again from the God of music :).
As SK continues his beautiful portayal of the navagraha krithis, I will take up some more dEvi krithis as per the request of my friend and well-wisher, Priyanka. So, I will discuss one of her favourite krithis, “HiranmayIm lakshmIm” in lalitha. The mood the rAga and the krithi evoke are too much to handle for me and I eventually end up breaking down most of the time. Lalitha holds a special place in my heart because of the araajagam SK did with “AgasthIshwaram” in our epic Fools’ day session. The sangathis he puts at “jagajIvE” in the first line of the anupallavi are too much to take. Anyway, All of you have a great week and I will be back very soon with the next gem of dIkshithar..the greatest creation of God ever..shrI kamalAmbA jayathi!!!

2 different incidents
Posted by a fan as Uncategorized
now it’s getting squeezed into 1 :)
When i was in US and was applying to driving license, one of the nerve wrenching moments was writing Online test as part of the Driving License process.
It’s not because the test was difficult or something, but because quite a few of my colleagues flunk in the test for no particular reason… and even flunking was really no big deal, but the experience of coming back to office and facing all the teasing(sometimes mocking) smiles from few fellow colleagues was not a good one :) (yes, cracking the test and getting license used to be a big deal like cracking CAT!!)
So we really do end up in trying to read the Driving License Manual or handbook thoroughly…
And one thing that always surprised me about that book was the Precision with which few details were written in that book or atleast projected that way…
Here is one for ex, (i searched the net to get the free online manual, but couldn’t get one)
The distance between your car and the car in front of you should be equivalent to the distance which can be covered in your current driving speed with the time taken to say the numbers 200 and 201.
i might have got the number wrongs, but the idea is the same and it really surprised me to see to what extent these guys have gone to make things perfect.
Also one of the things which i didn’t understand on reading for the first time was DUI. when i asked my colleague,he mentioned that it’s Driving Under Influence…
and the word influence doesn’t only imply Alcohol and other stuff, but also other things which might cause you a loss in mental stability. One classic example which often happens in our great country is “when one individual cuts and drives past us, we really get annoyed and honk out our anger or in extreme cases, try and repeat the same with him”.
This is exactly the incident which i saw last thursday.
In one of the four road intersection, a bike guy (from east) was taking a left turn and a maruti alto guy (from west) took a right turn by just cutting across bike guy. (And i was driving behind these guys and ended up witnessing these events.) Bike guy was completely annoyed. He turned and looked at me as if to indicate that how stupid that car guy had driven past him. Now we both were in left lane and the car guy was driving in right.
Then suddenly the bike guy started driving fast and overtook the car walla by moving from left lane to right lane :) I was amazed to see the force with which the bike guy did this. Infact the car was forced to slow down due to the bike in front of it. And when the car tried to move from right lane to left lane, the bike as well tried to move.
And this continued for next few minutes till the biker took a turn in the next corner.
I am not sure whether the car guy understood why the biker was behaving that way.
But it was surprising to see how the biker showed his annoyance to the car guy. Infact the biker had not even thought of any repercussions that might happen due to his action. What if the car guy had just hit him instead of stepping on the break?
And for me, it looked as if the biker has taken too much of unnecessary risk to show his annoyance, which infact is not worth taking for this incident…
Maybe thats why it’s called DUI when rational thinking is kept aside for a while :)
Now coming to the second incident…this is something which doesn’t happen often for us :) ;)
It was raining heavily yesterday morning around 8.30am. I was supposed to meet a friend of mine at 9am and the meeting place was just around 1.5 km from my place.
So i decided to walk instead of driving, which i later realized to be a terrible mistake, thanks to the water on the road and to the cars driving on the road in that water.
Because when it comes to driving in a water clogged road, really these car people neither care about the pedestrians nor about the fellow 2 wheelers. Atleast when we are a 2 wheeler we get an option to either to drive along or at a distance to the other cars in the road. But at that time of the day,as a pedestrian we are subjected to the brunt of few cars splashing away in the road.
And after a while, thanks to the complete water clogged road, i was unable to take the foot path and ended up walking along the road divider on the opposite direction. So it was easy to see the cars which were coming in front and walk accordingly by avoiding the water pools.
Then came one particular place where the water was clogged for quite some distance and a few meters ahead, saw a white Octavia coming at a fast speed in the road. I actually stopped walking and tried to move to the left as much as possible. And the water pool ended just before where i was standing.
Then came this car and when the driver came near he tried to slow his car and ended up bringing it to a complete halt :)
as far as my movie knowledge goes, this scene is yet to be taken in any movie and now the sole copyright is with me ;)
yes, the car stopped just adjacent to me and the guy inside the car was talking on a phone and gave a smart smile towards me(probably appreciating himself that he didn’t splash water atlast). I was able to see him clearly because i was walking along the road divider and hence was standing towards his right.
I was actually stunned at this unexpected twist of event and also highly annoyed because this stupid person, dressed in white, was sitting inside such a comfortable car and me standing in the water clogged road with a stupid umbrella.
Then, as it always in real life, i walked past the car and continued my journey towards the meeting place. :) :)
But this is really one kind of an incident which doesn’t happen to us always…
And when i think of it, it does make me smile :)

SMS - Smile Manufacturing Service.. :)
Posted by as Uncategorized
And I smile as I read the sms.. its one of those “cho chweet” forwards that you get once in a while and generally, a person immediately decides to forward it to
i) the love of his life…(if u r lucky enough to have found him/her) In my case, err..Data mismatch..!! :D
ii) here we get to the else part of the loop…Fwd it to your nearest and dearest friends.
iii) Send it to someone u haven’t been in touch with for quite sometime, n feeling guilty about it. A forward is just the right thing to break the ice.
As I keep reading and re-reading, something suddenly strikes my cerebrum! Oh Yup, am going to pen on SMS – the Smile Manufacturing Service !
SMS…Everyone seems addicted to it…How uneasy does it get, when you see “1 message received” but for some reason you cant open and see what message is waiting patiently for you in your inbox? And how many of us can actually survive without free messages? Not me for sure. My Message counter shows an accelerating rate at which i send or receive smses and, without free messages, I’ am sure life would get extremely difficult..
SMS helps you stay awake during those long boring lectures in college. With almost everyone having free messages, people are busy typing silly comments and forwarding it to the whole class…What fun it is, reading things that are of no relevance and that too at the cost of loss of important notes. But we all do it.. And who cares for the loss as far as sms carries anything that is funny and could be laughed at :-)
And now, over to the most important aspect. SMS has given us a lingo of our own, And its certainly not English. Parents don’t understand it. Linguists Oppose it. But do we care…? NO!!! Lately, I read somewhere that some of our very own words like asap, brb, gtg etc.. are being included in the new version of the great Oxford English Dictionary…Well, thats a sign of acceptance…Cheers!!!
“Hmmm….I mean….Hmmm….Maybe its like….I mean…Hmmmm….Well, finding it difficuilt to say…” Then better SMS!!!! What a way to convey ! And for sure, a good way to keep in touch with people whom you are not very comfortable talking talking…just send a sms or 1even a forward…!!!
Another thing that comes to mind is the Shayari smses ,which at times make us think deep…how many of us would have ever read or tried to understand Shayari if sms was non-existent…???Its taking us back to traditions or more appropriately back to a form of expression which ,we as generation-next had entirely forgotten.
But there are times when sms is the most annoying thing that can happen…Imagine… Mid-day sleeps …n just when you start enjoying the sleep…’it beeps’…u struggle to find where the cell phone is lying( of course u could’nt leave it to be read afterwards when u get up….it could be important…or appropriately…u r addicted!)…But when u read the sms, u want to bang your cell phone on the ground…The sms was from your service provider to update you of schemes you are least interested in…:-(
Anyways…Even with that string attached to it, i love smses…and there certainly are some special ones, which won’t be deleted, they touch a chord in my heart…
So guys, better keep messaging..!!!

Climbing Mt.Fuji(fondly referred to as Fujiyama)
Posted by Saravanan Sachithanantham as fuji, japan, trekking
Climbing Mt.Fuji was one of the most strenuous at the same time an adventurous and exciting exercise I have undertook in my life. Last month when I was in japan, I traveled to Tokyo for sight seeing with one of my friends there. We had no real intentions of going to Mt.Fuji as time was very limited with us. But on the way to Tokyo by Limited express trains from Kobe,we were excited to see the Fuji station. I inquired with a Japanese co-passenger whether Mt.Fuji is nearby for which his answer was yes and we got down in the Fuji station. From Fuji we took a train to Fujinomiya from where buses fly to the the go-gome or 5th station from which most trekkers climb Mt.Fuji. But we missed the bus at 3 o clock in Fujinomiya and the next bus was slated to come at 5 o clock. So we inquired a taxi driver how much it would cost to go-gome. He said 8600 yen and also as a testimony to the fact that people are nice and honest in japan, he told that a bus to go-gome would cost 2500 yen per person and also got us a bus time table chart. But we still traveled by the
taxi as time was limited. On the way to go-gome we enjoyed the wonderful sights of Fuji. We shook our head saying yes to most things the taxi driver told to us on the way in spite of we saying to him that we don’t understand Japanese in Japanese. But he was a nice guy and probably trying to let us know more abt Mt.Fuji, climbing, weather etc.,We reached go-gome in about 45 minutes. A large perfectly cone shaped volcanic mountain welcomed us at the go-gome(Kawaguchi 5th Station). As we had no real plans of climbing Mt.Fuji when we left Kobe,we did not bring with us the required winter clothes and climbing gear. We were not that confident that we would be able to manage the cold at the top but we thought as we have come so far there is no point going back without climbing to the top station. We bought some minimal climbing gear(walking stick, torch light) and a kind of woolen T shirt thinking it would keep us warm enough.
We started climbing at around 5.30 pm in the evening. My regular visits to the gym during that period made me fit enough and climbing was not that difficult for me. My friend was impressed with my stamina and the speed at which i was able to climb. My friend was getting tired and suggested to me we will stop after 7th Station. I told him no way and gave him a few encouraging words to carry on. As we trekked through the night on the way to the top the wind was getting stronger and the few warm clothes on me were not enough to beat the cold. Till 8th station the cold was not really getting on to us. But when we reached 8th station it started getting on to me and when I saw around there were co-trekkers with much better warm clothes, the desire for warmth struck me.I took all the t-shirts I had in my back pack and wore it inside. Still it was not enough to beat the cold. The illusion of warmth made the cold go deep in to my spine and I was feeling really cold. I seem to be happier in this photo (the night mode in the camera was not properly set contributing to the ghost like photo and believe me I dont look so bad to be as horrific as a ghost:)) on the 8th station but actually I was feeling terrible because of the cold. It was around 9.30 in the night and we thought of taking some rest in a hut house in 8th station vying for the warmth of a hut house. But the un affordable cost(we needed it only for 3-4 hours) of the accommodation in the hut house did not allow us the luxury. We planned to spend the night in the cold. I was not able to sit as the cold got too much and i started shivering. My friend had better warm clothes and atleast was not shivering. The wind was killing me and I said to my friend I would prefer trekking instead of sitting in the cold.
We carried along on the long trek to the top taking frequent rests in between till the cold would get to me and we wouls start trekking again to beat the cold. We preferred walking briskly so as to beat the cold. As we were going near the top the wind was getting stronger and the cold worse. It was a terrible feeling and my friend started complaining to me I was foolish enough to bring him here and climbing Mt.Fuji to see the Sun Rise. Atleast with me I was happy to trek. He was neither happy with the cold nor with the trekking. But we moved shivering in the cold and trekking briskly to beat it. We reached the top station at around 3.15 am in the morning and sat down shivering waiting for the Sun rise. All along the way we enjoyed the beautiful sights of Mt.Fuji and the stars in the night. I was happy to be 3776m above sea level and thats quite a height although the cold was nerve wracking. People said that the sun would come out around 4.30 am. Japan is the land of morning sun as Sun rise happens pretty early in the morning. I knew that the Sun normally rises at 4.50 - 5 in the morning and it would be a long wait for us. I was constantly shivering and did not have anything to protect my head or ears from the cold. I don’t remember anybody else was there like that including my friend. Finally the SUN started to break through the darkness at around 4.30 am in the morning. By 5 am the SUN rise happened and the sun rays beating on us were soothing although not enough to beat the cold on the top. My hands were shivering to take good shots of the sun rise. But my friend did take some good snaps of the sun 1 2 3 4.Thats me at the top down and out before the SUN and shivering in the cold. After seeing the spectacle of the SUN on top of the mountain I decided to climb down immediately so as to get to warmer parts. My friend was a bit tired and he decided to take some rest at the top before climbing down. Climbing down Mt.Fuji is said to be much tougher than going up as most people slip when they climb down but if you are careful and know where to keep your next step its not all that tough. I did not fall once on the climb down and I climbed down pretty fast as well(in about 2 Hrs). But I had previous experience of living in a hilly city in india and climbing small hills for the initial 13 years in my life. As the I was walking it was getting warmer and warmer and I returned to wearing only one t-shirt. So that was the climb down. Hope you enjoyed reading my Fuji experience.
Finally to all ambitious trekkers who have not climbed Mt.Fuji and would like to climb it, here are a few tips based on my experience.Climbing Mt.Fuji is not all that difficult as it is made out to be if you are fit and dont have breathing problems when on top.July,August is the only official time when Mt.Fuji is open for climbing although with special permission some experienced trekkers climb it during the off season but it is considered very risky. It is said lot of trekkers who climb Mt.Fuji during the winter dont return back. Anyways Just make sure you have the proper climbing gear and winter gear(huh…sure you need it). For climbing a head light, a walking stick and shoes with proper grip should get you through. Make sure you pack up light and carry only the warm clothes needed and some energy drink which you might need on the way to the top. I would suggest that you carry thermals and a thick leather jacket to beat from the cold. This should be enough to beat the cold. Dont give up on the way up. Think its near and its not too far off. Keep thinking this until you get to the top. The climb up is surely worth for the SUN rise. On the way down just be sure where to keep the next step. Happy trekking!!!

Its not often you introduce yourself to your own blog… but then again, its not often you ignore your blog for 2 months at a stretch… oh well… anyway… Dust away those cobwebs, drive out those mice and get the music rolling, because I’M BAAAAACK!
*No response… a solitary mouse sqeaks and continues moving my cheese*
Ok fine… i cant expect more… so I’ll just imagine i didnt get snubbed (as usual) and continue with what i wanted to say *Pulls face at ungrateful reader*
Life’s been fun… in a wierdly different way. The hostel life… the mess food… the A-18 Common Room koothu… everything’s wierd, but good. Except the mess food… thats only wierd when it IS good…
Back for a week… looks like 55/65 of the class took a holiday this week… *Gasp* wat a coincidence!!! And they’re saying classes wont take place so all we’re missing is attendance *Double Gasp*. Talk about luck! :P
In a nutshell… I’m back where i belong… Chennai… Lets take you back to the moment…
Time: 10.43 PM. Location: Chennai Egmore. Specific Location: Outside Howrah Express. The warm, salty breeze. The humid air that weighs upon you like twenty tons of steel. The aroma of last weeks badly cooked dosa rotting on the platform. The cries of ‘Auto Auto!’ and the honking of human trains. Ahhh… There is light in the darkness - one car stands testimony to the merits of civilisation. One car that draws me to it, beckons me, enchants me. One car that will take me home.
Here i must conclude my reminisence… for the greater good :P
Anyway… Its good to be home… so watch this space…

I was in the choir group, and I knew a lot of prayers. I had lots of heated arguments with almost all my teachers about the irrationality behind the existence of God.
I was a very introvert guy in the school. Sagar Gaikwad was my bestest friend. And we dint want anyone else. (P.S: I am not gay, dudes). School life is always cherishable. Waking up early in the morning (5:30 am), cycling to school, morning extra classes, prefects, class monitors, sharing tiffins, not accosting girls, singing in choir, english elocution, debate, unit tests and term examinations, being Roll of Honour (topping in school), minding primary school kids, playing basketball and football without any rules, painting, homework, studying, assembly, dramas, Gold House Day, …
I am reminded of a prayer :
the courage to change the things I can, and
the wisdom to know the difference.“

Searching for News ?????
Posted by KARTHIK BALAJI G as Uncategorized
I recently heard about the google news agency. I wonder how this company has such amazing potential to venture into each and every field seamlessly. This indeed was a very bold move by a tech-savvy company when it was forced by the news agencies to pay them for aggregating the news. The victory is pyrrhic. For the agencies have transformed google into what it was not, into what they and their clients should most dread. The paradox here is, syndicated news is aggregated and google is a very successful aggregator. A link makes syndication obsolete; a link is more efficient. So if a information provider knows how to top the google’s story ranking, they know how to profit. This is a healthy competition and we are vstepping into a new arena of information age. Google should serve the cause of journalism by giving credit to the journalists who are the building blocks. The idea is simple, do what you do best and link to the rest. People recognize you through your value, not because you are a destination !!!!!!

My date
Posted by a fan as Uncategorized
so as a first thing in the morning, i wanted to write a post and hence opened blogger…
amazingly there were more than 20 posts stored in drafts in different stages of completion…
and found a very interesting one, which i seem to have written on 26 feb 2005 :) :) :)
i even forgot that i had written a draft in this topic.
here it goes.
——————————————————————————————————————————
i happened to watch the “Season finale” of Simi garewal’s Rendezvous.
In that, every guest was asked as whom they would take as their Date for an evening.
i thought,whom would i take for a Date,given an opportunity..:)
Fortunately or unfortunately, the first person to come to my mind is Michael Schumacher.:) How wonderful it would be…
till date,i have never posted anything about my F1 crush or mainly schumi crush.
actually the reason is,no single post can aptly explain everything mind thinks about it.so thats the reason i never wrote about it.
it happened during my 2nd year of college.it was one of those
————————————————————————————————————————————
that was the draft stored… let me continue further :)
“it happened during my 2nd year of college. it was one of those lazy sunday afternoons in hostel, where all the souls without a boyfriend end up sleeping out the time or chatting out… i neither had a boyfriend nor was keen on chatting/sleeping ! …
so ended up alone in the TV Room. and it was a bad timings as no programme was good in that afternoon time - around 3pm…
as i was just browsing thru the channels with utter distaste, came across star sports… there were some cars just whizzing around and the first thing i liked was the commentary..the commentator seemed to have got completely immersed into the sport that even the way he was talking seemed to symbolize the speed associated with the sport.
that was the first impression i had and it was a good one ;)
then came something called pitstop, where these guys brought their car into pit to refuel and did some cleaning stuff.
it was amazing to see how the whole team just pounced on the car as it stopped in the pit,did the cleanup including wiping off the driver’s helmet glass..refueling was done and the car was out of the pit in an amazing 8 seconds…
even then when the guy came out of the pit, he missed his first position narrowly to another guy … and later he regained the first position after the second pit stop…
this whole stuff was kind of unimaginable for me as i had never watched a race in TV before.
and for the first time, i ended up watching the race till the completion with the same enthu and amazement…
then came the icing on the cake…
the guy who won the race was none other than Schumi… (as expected ;))… and it’s not everyday that u like somebody from the first sight ;) :)
till then i never understood why people are a fan of somebody or something…
and then, rest is history…. :)
i always made sure to watch every single F1 race(even got early in the morning to watch Australian races and stayed late night to watch US/Canadian grandprix)… felt happy when schumi won a race and did his typical jump in podium… felt sad/upset when he didn’t win a race… infact sometimes i even went to an extreme to say that if he didn’t win a race, then that following week was a sad week with all wrong things happening. (ya it sounds really crazy now when i type… but that was the truth :))
even spent 25euros or so every year to become a member in Ferrari website, so that i can download wallpapers/screensavers and read news about F1 and Schumi :)
the only time when i missed watching F1 was when i was US… eventhough we can track every lap details thru Formula1 site, it’s never the same as watching live on TV…
but one of the good things of being in US was that i had a chance to watch US F1 Live in Indianapolis in 2005…. one of the best moments in my life :)
and the only saddest point is, i never watched any other F1 Live with Schumi in track.. :(
one of the greatest dreams was to spend one full season travelling around the world with one team…ofcourse i wanted to do that when Schumi was around…
infact i met quite a few ppl in US F1 who actually were kind of doing like this…there was a guy with huge tripod and other camera stuff who had been to Canadian GP and then came to US GP… and there were a bunch of German girls who had been to 4 races in that season…
hmmm… if at all i get a chance like that…….maybe when Schumi starts working in Ferrari again in some position :) :)
